Naturally shed, humanely sourced, untreated, softer than bone, supplement to raw or dry food diets, veterinarian clients, loaded with joint supportive nutrients, lasts for weeks, enrichment building. *Please note, some dogs may chew antler up in hours...moderation and size selection is important. Facts About Antler:
Antler is made up of a bone-like material that is naturally shed each year and re

generates on the heads of male deer (of which there are about six types in New Zealand). Younger antler is primarily made of cartilage until it mineralizes into bone. Antler grows faster than any other type of bone (sometimes up to one inch per day!)

When antlers are almost mature, they grow velvet (a fine fur covering), blood flow to the antler stops, and the antler hardens. Antler's velvet dries up and deer rub it off onto trees. Soon, the antler will fall off and regenerate into larger antler next year (referred to as "points"). Antler is composed of the nutrients calcium, phosphorus, glucosomine, chondrotin and up to 50% water. The middle of the antler is a "marrow" type. The make up of each antler is different dependent on the type and age of the deer it is from. That may mean your dog may chew one antler differently (faster or slower) than another. Most antlers will last your dog weeks or months, depending on the size of the chew you select and the intensity of your dog's chewing.
