JUST A BABY & ALREADY HEARTWORM POSITIVE 😭😭💔💔

Dasher here 🦌 I'm ready to dash my way right into your heart and home ASAP 🎄I'm a 9 month-old male Retriever mix who was brought to the shelter with my friend/brother, Rudolph and we need your help getting out of here. We were found as "strays", and no one came to claim us, which makes us sad 😭 But we are both hopeful that the perfect families will come to the shelter and adopt us! I'm friendly and I get along well with other dogs. If you have a dog, bring them to meet me to make sure that we'll be best friends! I do want to let you know that I'm heartworm positive, but please don't let that scare you away from adopting me. Heartworms can be cured, but I need your help to get rid of them 😭💔 If you have any questions, the shelter staff would be happy to answer them. Before I go home with you, I will be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. I hope that you will make my holiday wish come true, and consider giving me a FOREVER home. I hope to meet you soon!

The number of animals entering shelters began to climb in 2021, after a pandemic-related dip, but adoptions haven’t kept pace with the influx of pets.

Iberia Parish Rabies Control has no open kennels for cats or dogs. We need rescues to pull and adopters to adopt ASAP. If we can’t, we will have to euthanize for space. Please help us save our fur babies and find them furever homes for Christmas.

We have had NO MOVENENT of dogs. No rescue offers. No adoption applications. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. EUTHANASIA IS SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

BANDIT is a cool stocky little guy. He’s homeless at only 6 months old & has done great in large play groups of 9 dogs at the shelter.

He’s a Godiva chocolate brown & handsome-come meet him!
