The air and energy that animate An old dog’s breath A untethered drifting lily pad A spinning mobile in the playground Peace that surpasses all understanding washes over us in quiet whispers. The rhythm of life can be found in the living, in the dead, and even in manmade inanimate things. As the situation is going to hell in a handbasket, when there is only dismay wherever we turn our eyes, when you finally understand what it means that some people just want to watch the world burn, we can only find refuge in still small voices that has been singing before the world begin, and will continue to sing long after we are gone. Some says ‘this too shall pass.’ But I would retort, ‘maybe not for everyone.’ Some might never see the sun rise again. It is not to be taken for granted. Not every battle can be won. Not for everyone anyway. Yet it is right to not let tomorrow’s winter rob us of today’s summer and so today we will enjoy the warmth and smell the flowers. To have tasted and seen what goodness is, even in the darkest days, let yesterday’s light shine forth and illuminate the paths ahead.
