To protect your dog from heatstroke, ensure they have constant access to fresh, clean water. Limit outdoor exercise to the cooler parts of the day and never leave them unattended in a parked car. Provide ample shade and consider investing in cooling mats or dog pools. - Get plenty of exercise
- Set up a safe environment with familiar surroundings and toys

Here are some tips we give our clients and sitters during the summer months:

1. Hydration: Always provide fresh water for your dog, especially when outdoors. Consider adding ice cubes to their water bowl to keep it cool.

2. Avoid Midday Heat: Walk your dog during cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late evening, to prevent overheating.

3. Shade and Shelter: Ensure your dog has access to shade when outside. If possible, provide a shaded area with good airflow.

4. Limit Exercise: Avoid intense exercise during hot weather. Opt for shorter walks or play sessions in the cooler hours of the day.

5. Cooling Techniques: Use cooling mats, wet towels, or kiddie pools for your dog to cool off. You can also lightly mist them with cool water.

6. Watch for Signs of Overheating: Symptoms include excessive panting, drooling, rapid heartbeat, weakness, and even collapse. If you suspect heat stroke, move your dog to a cooler place and contact your veterinarian immediately.

7. Grooming: Regular brushing helps remove excess fur, allowing better airflow to the skin, which can help regulate body temperature.

the results are in….these are our official picks for best dog parks in Atlanta!🍑 When looking for good dog parks, we consider how much space the animal has to run around and separate themselves from other animals (as needed). is a favorite in our books because each animal entering the park is vaccinated and humans can enjoy a fun beverage, live music and trivia while watching their pup play. 🦮

Our other picks are wonderful options for your pet, but we always remind our clients to fully vaccinate your puppy before visiting any park and keep your pup off leash while in the park as pups can get territorial without them!

It’s sick season, and as much as we wish they couldn’t, dogs can pick up illnesses just like us. We want to help you and your furry family member out this season by providing our top tips for keeping your pet healthy this season!

1.) know the symptoms (every sickness is different so write symptoms down so your vet can properly diagnose)

2.) Boost their immunity! We have some great supplements in our post but exercise is also a fantastic immunity booster if unable to use supplements.

3.) Isolate! Unfortunately our pets can catch illnesses from other sick pets. This is the time to avoid dog parks and boarding your pet. If you need an alternative solution, opt for hiring a professional pet sitter like our ones at Buckhead Paws to help look after your pet and keep them healthy!
