Dear clients.

Thank you for your continued support in 2023. It has been my pleasure to play a part in your herds health and well-being.

I’m now taking a short break over the festive season and will back to it in the new year. Next year I will inevitably need to increase my prices due to the increase costs of running a business. The price rise will be $10 (+ gst) per treatment, no matter if dental or bodywork.

I do hope you have an amazing festive season with loved ones including your furry four legged family. Looking forward to seeing you in the new year to help ‘release your equines natural equilibrium’.

Kind regards, Bianca.

Dear clients

Things need to change from the way business has been running in the first half of the financial year. I am implementing some new business terms and conditions which I outline below.

1. I now have a work phone separate from my personal phone. The work phone will be tendered to a few times a week to answer and schedule booking times. This now means I am not on 24/7 hour contact like a vet practice as the services I provide are not urgent. It also means please reply promptly when I do contact to organize the schedule for the week ahead.

2. I am generally booked out weeks ahead. So please plan accordingly or hold a regular spot rather than being disappointed if I can’t fit you in.

3. At booking time please be definite about the numbers of horses needing to be seen and for what service. Once a booking has been confirmed re number of horses and time/date, extra horses will not be treated and alternatively reduction of horse numbers will incur a fee.

4. I try to schedule people the best I can to accommodate their needs. However, like other equine service providers I may only be in your district one or two days a month. So a booking may require more flexibility on your timetable than mine.

5. I’m a hands on practitioner. So that means I can’t fix the horse via a video or over the phone. Please make a booking.

6. Acceptance of new clients will be taken on a case by case assessment.

7. I will no longer be doing ‘difficult’ horses or horses that are not trained to tolerate a practitioner and their services. Sadly my body says ‘no more being hauled around’. Call out fees will be applied to said cases.

8. I am a equine body worker and a dental technician. Please defer to other professionals with queries that relate to their expertise.

9. I try and have kept my service charges as low and economical as possible despite the increasing business costs. Sometimes lower than my peers and this may have to change. But whether it be my services, the farrier, trainer, vet etc … We are all specialists in our field. That means years of study, equipment and business costs. This is not a side job or hobby, but a business and thus is required to run like one. Please pay on the day for the services rendered via square eftpos, bank transfer or cash (unless prior approval).

I do hope the above clears up the business protocols for my services. For all the clients that have supported my business throughout the years and already adopt and apply the above - I am eternally grateful for your loyalty and ease of business transaction.

Safety working with horses

When I was breaking & training a lot of horses, I only had 3 hard & fast rules for myself, the horses & my clients
1 - Safety first
2 - Safety first
3 - Safety first

I used to give a simple analogy to my clients/students;

If I asked u to go to the shop & get me a drink in my car, Would u do it?
To which they all said yes.

But what if I told u the brakes didn’t work very well, the steering was terrible & the accelerator often got stuck on & u couldn’t stop the car?
To which they all said no!

Yet this is how so many of their horses went, yet they happily got on them every day with any &/or all of the above issues.

In the hoof care industry I see the very same thing with hoof care providers working with horses that have bad manners & are often quite dangerous.

Several times I’ve seen videos of farriers demonstrating how to work with unruly horses with one farrier commenting that ‘the pain only lasts until it stops’ or similar.

My advice is not to work on these horses!

Nobody is going to pay ur medical bills, pay u for time away from work, look after ur family, compensate u for the extra aches & pains as u get older.

Even if u charge $150 more, how far will that get u if ur forced to have 6 weeks off with a broken arm or similar?!

The onus is on the owner to provide a safe work environment. If the horse needs training, take it to a trainer.

When I was starting horses under saddle, I shod pretty much all of them as for me it was part of the process & we used to ride the horses out in the bush quite a lot (incl tge gallopers, dressage horses etc)

We have had someone comment that ‘a good farrier will get the job done, no matter the horse’

What a load of crap!!!

A few others tell me that it’s our job to shoe horses & we can’t be picky about tge ones we work with.

Wanna bet!

I’ve been in the horse game for 30yrs, have started around 2000 horses under saddle in several countries around the world, worked with countless re education horses & shod them for 20yrs

In all that time I have not sustained a major injury. The reason being, I have 3 hard & fast rules
1 - Safety
2 - Safety
3 - Safety

Once I get my small video camera set up (nxt cple weeks) I will b doing a video on safe handling of horses for hoof care. Cause if it keeps one person a little safer out there it will be well worth the effort!

Dear clients.

So the time has finally come for me to ‘shut up shop’ for a bit and fly overseas for a break and to see family. I will not have any mobile or contact availability whilst on leave. You can however still leave a message on my points of contact and I will respond upon my return in late October. I do hope you and your horses have a safe and enjoyable few weeks ahead.

Dear clients

Now the world is slowly opening back up in accessibility for travel - I will be taking leave from the 16th of September to the 17th of October this year. If you have regular bookings with me I have held spots before and after these dates to ensure I see your horses just before I go and as soon as I get back ….. so that means the week before and after are now very tight on scheduled bookings as well. Hence why I am getting in early with this post to pre warn clients. I appreciate your continued support and will still see you in the coming months before I head off.

Kind regards Bianca - Angold Equine Enterprises
