The team have been making running repairs to the racing jackets while the ground staff have been preparing the track.

Unfortunately the 2022 Bungendore Show has been cancelled due to conditions of the showgrounds. All entry fees to the Dash will be refunded in the coming days.

The Dash is not just about racing, it also hosts the world famous Dapper Dachshund costume contest. This year, ABC Canberra’s well known sausage lover, Lish Fejer , will be joining the judging team to help seperate the wieners from the losers.

Thank you everyone who joined us yesterday. I counted over 200 people and about 100 dogs. With cash collected on the day and online donations we raised over $500 for Dachshund Rescue Australia.

Don’t forget our walk this Sunday to celebrate. The plan is we will walk from the National Library to Old Parliament House, for a photo on the steps, and then up to Parliament House and return. You are welcome to walk as short or as far as you would like.

That’s a wrap! Thank you everyone for coming, Dionysus Winery for hosting us and Lish Fejer - ABC Radio Canberra for helping judge the fashion parade.

Winner of the raffle was Olivia Wish with runner-up Tonia Bergmanis.

It’s now time to sleep for a week…..

Gates open at 1:00pm tomorrow for the most Wienderful experience this year. Fashion Parade judging will commence around 1:45 with our guest judges Lish Fejer - ABC Radio Canberra and Wendy from Dionysus Winery having the difficult task of choosing the tastiest looking sausages. Dionysus Cup heats will start around 2:15 with semi-finals and the race that stops Murrumbateman following soon after. To register for the races please look for Mark, the Chief Wiener Wrangler, and Obi when you arrive.

For those concerned about the weather, Wienerpalooza is definitely going ahead this weekend. Forecast is for light showers at Murrumbateman but my people on the ground have said that they have seen very little rain this week contrary to forecasts. To be on he safe side I suggest you bring a jacket and an umbrella as while there is shelter it may get cozy if a shower comes through.

The fire bucket is the main prize for the Lucky Cellar Door draw. Each paid ticket receives one entry with additional entries available to purchase on the day.

Wine, cheese and wieners…. oh my!

Tickets are now available for Wienerpalooza at Dionysus Wienery in Murrumbateman on 6 March.

Join us for an afternoon amongst the vines where you will rub ankles with the finest long dogs this side of the great divide while enjoying the wienderful wine on offer through the cellar door and supporting Dachshund Rescue Australia. Entertainment on the day will include a fashion in the vines competition and the running of the inaugural Dionysus Cup dachshund race. Ticket price include a cheese platter, a glass of wine (if the drinker option is selected), entry to the fashion competition and races and chance to win the lucky (cellar) door prize.

A further selection of antipasto, cold meats, cheese, dips, crackers, nuts, chips, sweet treats, soft drinks and (more) wine can be purchased from the cellar door on the day.

On the 23rd December Santa Paws will make a special visit to the Southern Harvest Association Xmas markets in Bungendore. If you are in the area, pop in, get a photo with him and make a donation to Dachshund Rescue Australia while getting your last minute Christmas needs. The Special night market will be featuring Roogulli Farm, From the Paddock, Corang Estate (with wines and lamb), Ducks Crossing (with duck eggs), Branch and Burrow, Dewsbury Pork (with a pig on a spit), Flat Out Produce, Bees R Us, Pacawooly, The Chameleon Ice-Creamery, Cameron's Woodworking, Riverbourne Distillery, Prana Produce, Wombat Flat, Piece of Cake by Erin, Julie's greeting cards and more. Unfortunately the Bungendore Show committee has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Show.

This means that the Dash also will not be going ahead.
