Trinity
This sweet baby girl was brought into the shelter as a stray after being found with an injured leg. We’ve named her Trinity and she is currently at the vet getting X-rays and pain meds. As soon as we know a diagnosis and how the vet wants to proceed, we will update you all.
Gemma
Back in June, we took in this precious senior girl and named her Gemma. She had some trouble getting around, she was blind, and she was at least 12 years old. We didn’t know how much time this sweet girl would be with us but we knew that she deserved to live her final days in a home feeling loved. It’s been 3 months now and Gemma is still doing pretty good. She’s on meds for her arthritis to help her get around and she’s learned the layout of her foster home. Along with being blind, Gemma is also deaf but nothing stops her from doing what she wants to do. Gemma is still happy and we are happy that her foster/hospice home is giving her the life that all sweet seniors deserve.
Shuffles
Shuffles came into the shelter yesterday with injuries to her neck and tail. Both wounds were infected and had maggots in them. After she was cleaned up, we took her to one of our vets where her tail will need to be amputated.
Shuffles gets her name because of her feet. You see, Shuffles has extra toes on her feet making her an extra special polydactyl kitty!
Shuffles will need a foster home once she is discharged from the vet. Please go to www.dcanimalliance.org, click on “fostering” and complete a foster application if you can help us with this sweet little girl.

Gemma update
An update on our precious sweet senior….
From Gemma’s foster mom:
“I’ve been kind of private about our new foster because I’m not sure how long she will be with us and we’re mostly focused on making her comfortable. But today someone callously asked me “why would anyone foster a blind and deaf dog? Why would you spend resources that way?” Well, this is why. She is enjoying herself. She eagerly eats and drinks and willingly takes her meds. Last night — finally — she smelled our dinner and got out of her bed to come and lay down near us. She knows her path in and out of our back door and up and down one step to walk around in the soft grass and smell all the smells and go potty. She has never had an accident in our house. It is amazing to watch her navigate her surroundings and find her way back to the gate and back inside to her soft bed. She has good days and bad days and today I’ve seen an improved activity level that gives me great comfort. Tomorrow may be different but we will take one day at a time sweet girl. ❤️”
Penelope

Shelter is FULL
It seems that people don’t believe when the shelter says “we’re full”. I walked through today and only paused my video between the 2 kennels so the video wouldn’t be too long. I wanted you to see that literally, EVERY SINGLE KENNEL IS FULL.
All dogs in the yellow part of the video are available for adoption. You can contact the shelter or go to Davidson County Animal Shelter NC for more information.
If you are interested in any of the dogs in the red video, please contact us or another local rescue immediately.
Our foster application can be found at www.dcanimalalliance.org.
Ava
Ava is ready to find her forever family! If you are looking to add a super sweet 4-legged family member to your home, please complete the adoption application on our website (www.dcanimalalliance.org).
The adorable Mr. Stryker is still taking applications for his forever family.
Jarvis
Jarvis is just 5 months old and already finds himself as an unwanted stray at the shelter. As cute and as sweet as he is, he does have a little problem. As you can see from the video and photos, Jarvis has an injury to his shoulder. Maybe it’s just dislocated, maybe it’s a break that’s healed wrong. We need to get Jarvis in to the vet for some X-rays but we need to find him a foster home. Taking him to the vet does neither him or the shelter any good if we just have to take him back there - and let’s face it, the shelter is no place for a puppy, especially one that may need surgery. The good news is that Jarvis doesn’t seem to be in any real pain.
If you can foster Jarvis while we get him taken care of and until we can find him a loving home, please visit www.dcanimalalliance.org, click on “fostering”, and submit a foster application.
Hunter update
Forget living on a chain ever again! Hunter is getting used to living the posh life with his foster family and he is doing well adjusting to 3 legs. He goes back to the vet next month to start heart worm treatment. In the meantime, it’s just relaxing and healing for this sweet boy.
