I am opening an electronic registration for those that have expresssed interest in the Fall classes in Pearl/Brandon at the new Tractor Supply. I want to make sure I get everyone registered that wants a spot & I can add a class time slot if I needed. Please PM me if you would like to receive the registration form. Ginger the Poodle! Her mom has big goals for her to be able to be a therapy dog & go into nursing homes to visit residents. She is here for a 30 day board & train. So far, I would say she a very good candidate for this type of work. 😊

This afternoon after school, my 3 year old child had a complete fall in the floor meltdown because she “wants her own dog to train”. 🫣 (She means a client dog; not a dog that is ours.) So if y’all see one of our board & trains being walked by a 3 year old……🤷🏼♀️
update: she settled for our little dog Kip.🤦🏼♀️😂

Too much “play” can be a very bad thing for your puppy. They get used to being in an excited state of mind & overstimulated all of the time, & it becomes difficult for them to just “do nothing”. If your dog doesn’t learn to be okay with just doing nothing, they will always be doing something. And most of the time it will be something that you don’t like.

For a lot of dogs, dog parks are a very bad idea. 😳WHAT❓ Hear me out.
🐶It can overstimulate & actually stress your dog out, even causing your dog to be dog aggressive.
🐶Some people have unfriendly dogs. Your dog can easily be a victim of another dog’s aggression. Thus, causing issues mentioned above.
🐶Your dog does not have to socialize with other dogs to be fulfilled. Yes, I said it. ☄️
🐶It can teach your dog to not come when called, to ignore you, & make dog walks be miserable because the overstimulation can increase reactivity.
🤔There are a lot of varying factors here. But if you are determined to let your dog play with another dog, schedule a play date with a dog who has good energy. Make sure your dog listens to you when it’s time for play to end & quickly intervene if they don’t.
🥪Just a little food for thought.

This happened two years ago. It healed. I was fine; I never missed a beat. I just want to share knowledge because this is how dogs end up in shelters…after they do this to their owners.
The dog that did this to me was less than 50lbs. He had zero sense of respect or boundaries & had been allowed to run his owners’ household from day 1. Imagine if this dog had been 80 or more pounds. If you don’t want them doing it when they are big, don’t let them do it when they are little. It’s NOT cute to let a puppy jump on you becuse it’s NOT cute when they are adult. This dog was not even in for board & train. It was just here for boarding. I never kept the dog again because the owners refused to see the value in training & insisted on overly indulging this dog’s every whim. I didn’t want him doing this to me again OR to my kids.
2 years later, I don’t know what happened to the dog, but those owners don’t have him. 🤔 The dog wasn’t even THAT bad, & it was nothing some simple boundary setting wouldn’t have fixed, but for some, catering to a dog is more important than actually expecting a dog to have discipline & respect. Just enforcing a few simple boundaries could have made this dog an entirely new dog.

Gina Cole
Gina Cole (Small Female German Shepherd) has come a long way & is available for adoption. I will provide support in her training when she is adopted (a private lesson) & she may attend obedience classes for free! She would make someone a great running or walking partner. She is very high drive & will need an outlet for that but also loves to snuggle, loves to learn, & is eager to please. She is people friendly, great with kids, & she does okay with dogs & is getting better at that every day. Available for adoption through Paws Rescue.

Jake’s little girl is a cowgirl & she wants to be able to take Jake to the rodeo’s with her. So, we took Jake to a rodeo to prepare him for her. 💕
Lolli
Lolli. I posted Lolli girl earlier in her training. She is a nervous girl & wants to run & hide when frightened. I’ve spent a lot of time just showing her “I’ve got this” & today we put the work to a the test & went on a “field trip”. I am so happy to report that Lolli is successfully overcoming her anxiousness. Now, it’s time to pass that on the her owner.
While I don’t recommend littermates (just makes training harder in the home), these two cuties are so sweet & willing to learn.

Brad & I (Lindsey) spent almost all day today in the pouring rain at a retriever training clinic hosted by Tyler Patterson.
Brad & I (Lindsey) spent nearly the entire day in the pouring rain. When you pay for classes or board & train, you’re not paying for just that lesson or training. This is the 3rd seminar I’ve been to in less than a year with some of the best trainers out there. I spend that time absorbing knowledge from the experts & growing my ability so I can better serve our clients, and even more importantly, serve the dogs. My focus as a trainer is obedience, so retriever training was quite different than my norm, but it’s all about understanding how dogs learn & using that to teach them in the most efficient & effective way possible. This was a really cool experience & I’m thankful Brad is expanding my horizons with his retriever training background.
Remember how I wanted someone to send a pointer to me?? Meet Cane! He’s here for a 30 day board & train. He came in Sunday. As with all dogs, we spend some time on the relationship…establishing trust & some spacial boundaries before the fancy stuff begins, and today we jumped right in!
