Hello Everyone! I apologize for not updating everyone with cute babies! They have been such a darling group of babies that have been very well loved by myself and my kiddos. I have loved hearing the peeps of the babies and their happy squeaks when they all pile together to get to fresh water 😂.

I was hoping to get all the rat photos taken and edited this week, but spent the time outside with the weather being amazing as well as some well needed self care.

Here is my info regarding adoption of this batch of babies: they will first be offered to those who have adopted with me before. Those people have messaged me over the last several weeks. I do plan to randomly select/draw the order of those adopting. I’ll probably get an app and have the order of names randomly generated. I will post photos of the litters/babies (once they are taken and edited) as well as will message the prior adopters here in the upcoming days the order of the adopters and when they can choose babies. If there are any babies left after the prior adopters choose, I will post and have the last babies up for adoption and that will be first come first served.

So- for those who are interested, have messaged me and are prior adopters, hang tight and I will message you this week with the order of when you can choose babies. Thank you!

All but one litter is ready to go to their new homes now. There is one litter that was born a few weeks later and will be ready in another 2ish weeks. If you do choose a rat from that you her litter, I’ll have you pickup all your rats when the youngest is available.

These rats are very social and have been around kids, adults, a drum set, vacuum, radio, etc. They have been offered a variety of foods. Some absolute favorites are cooked pasta, cooked black beans, scrambled eggs, and lean meats. They also love anything carbs like uncooked pasta and crackers. They have been offered cooked corn, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, carrots, cooked beans(various), oranges, apples, dried fruit, unsalted nuts, raisins, crunchy dry cereal and more.

We have had some great luck with some beautiful and healthy rats these past 2 weeks and have had some eyes opening in the last few day/s.

For those who are new, I am mostly retired from breeding, but am continuing my lines of genetics/work. I plan to keep a handful of females and a few males for myself and then adopt out to those who have adopted from me in the past. If there are still any rats after that, I will open it up to the public.

I plan to do a lottery/drawing for the order of the prior adopters who have already messaged me. I will keep you posted when I do.

I will say that these litters have been male dominated .
These are just to look at and are not to reserve with.

We had another litter born today! Mama and babies are doing well! I’m still expecting another couple moms to give birth in the upcoming few days.

Just so I can gauge interest in the upcoming adoptions, what I am asking for is current/past adopters who have or had rats from Rainbow Whiskers Rattery to send me a message stating if they are wanting to adopt when I post (around 3-4 weeks from now). Please message me the s*x and number of rats you are interested in. This by no means guarantees you will get rats, but helps me know who wants rats. Please don’t message if you haven’t adopted from me, as I will be offering to past adopters first, then new adopters after.

Hello! I apologize for not responding to messages over the past several months. It has been good being able to take a break from breeding to focus on myself and my human family.
I have kept a small number of rats to continue the genetics I’ve worked on over the past several years. I paired several recently for continuity of genetic lines. The mamas are looking very pregnant and I’m excited to hear the peeps of new babies soon (likely this week) I plan to keep several rats to continue my lines, but will likely have some extra that will need homes.
I will keep the page updated as they are born. I will not be responding to messages at this time while I remain semi-retired. I do plan to return to my “retired” breeder status after these litters. I am not sure how long I plan to remain retired.
Things are going well on my end. I think 2024 is looking quite promising. I hope you all are well.

Happy New Year to my rat loving friends. I have not read any messages since I took a pause on breeding. I don’t anticipate going back to breeding any time soon at the capacity I was previously. I have paired a few rats for personal reasons for continuity of my lines/genetics. After I keep a handful, I will likely have a few extra to sell as pets. Please do not message me at this time about the litter(s). I will likely adopt out to those who have been prior adopters first before making available to the general public.

I hope all is well with everyone. I’m enjoying my time being a single mom homeowner, exploring new hobbies like painting, and spending quality time with family. We adore all the rats we’ve kept and can’t wait to hear the peeps of new babies again, if only for a short bit. Thank you!

Here are my available males (blue background) and females (pink background). The females will go to a home together. You must get them as a trio. The males you can choose 2 or 4. I’m not selling singly. These are my last rats for the foreseeable future. Please message if interested and I will respond in about 24 hours. Anyone who has adopted from me in the past will get preference. Send me a message if interested.

I have 4 males and 3 females left that I will post later tonight. These will be my last rats for the foreseeable future. I will only adopt out the females as a trio and the males in pairs or a group of 4. Preference will go to prior adopters from me and in order of first come first served. So, if you don’t care what they look like and have adopted from me in the past, you can feel free to message me now if you want a pair (or all 4) of males or all 3 females. Otherwise, I’ll post them tonight!

All females have been adopted. I do have a handful of males still available and can post which ones tomorrow. I have one very small upcoming litter and that will be the last of my litters for the foreseeable future. I will probably post the few rats in about 1-2 weeks.

I do hope to post a few litters either later this evening or tomorrow. This will be my last group of rats available for the near future. I will be temporarily "retiring". I have been trying to keep up with this hobby along with a recent separation/divorce, being a single home owner, and most importantly a single mom. I do have a "real" job as well. My kids are the most important and need some extra TLC during this time. I have not been able to respond to messages in a timely manner, even though I try to get to them as soon as possible. I will still be keeping my rats, as I have worked over 5 years on their genetics to breed well tempered and quality rats. I absolutely love breeding rats, but right now I have to take a pause and work on myself and kiddos. I want to take the time to appreciate all those who have adopted from me, many who have over several generations. Thank you! I have really enjoyed all your support and love for rats.

Golem (darker grey), Stash (lighter tawny beige), and Bandit (white). Golem is roughly 2 years old and SO sweet! He always comes to the front of the cage for back rubs and, once he’s comfortable with the environment outside his cage, will take naps on your belly. He is also really playful, and love to pounce around and chase feathers. Though his brother passed earlier this year, he seems to have no health issues. Stash and Bandit are around 6-7 months old, and have been fun, rambunctious new companions for Golem. As their names suggest, they have loved digging burrows to hide their food in. Stash is still pretty evasive with petting and picking up, but is very social and curious. Bandit seems more comfortable with handling, and could be really cuddly with more socialization. They will come with a double critter nation cage with a deep plexiglas base (which I custom made). I also have plenty of supplies and snacks to pass on as well, so this could be great for someone just starting their setup at home.

I plan to post babies later this evening, likely around 5-7pm. Rats are first come first served based on the messages I receive after posting. Please just send me one message with the name and number from the photos of the rats you'd like to reserve. It can take me some time to get through all the messages, as I usually get many all at once. Please be patient. If the rats you want to reserve have been reserved already, I will let you know which are still available at the time I get to your message. Pickup will be in approximately 2-3 weeks and I will have sign up days and times.

Mossy and Bolt are boys needing new homes due to a major life change and moving into an apartment that they cannot be kept in.

They come with their double unit critter nation, but the owner hopes for some financial compensation for this. Mossy “likes to be on the move and loves to eat” while Bolt “is a sweet who will cuddle”.

Do you have an elderly male rat who has lost his companions, but aren’t ready to get babies again? Or do you want to add a older male rat to your current mischief?

Peter is 2 years old (from my Rattery) and all of his pals have passed away (except for one who is on his way to the rainbow bridge soon). Peter is described as “lovely, easy, sweet guy” who is healthy and has never shown any aggression to people or his rat family. His human owner is currently having some life circumstances where she cannot devote time to adding more rats to her home.

If you’d like to add him to your crew or your elderly male, please send me your direct contact info so I can pass this along to Peter’s mom.

All males from the previous litter have found homes except Tiana 2. He’s super sweet and with my other males. If you’d like to reserve him, you can also reserve another from my upcoming litter I will be posting.

I plan to post a few litters tomorrow (not sure timing yet, but definitely not early morning). I do actually have females (and males). I have a ton of patterns and variety of colors. The babies will be ready for homes 2-3 weeks from now but can be reserved as soon as I post them tomorrow.

Later today I will be posting some rat rehomes from some prior litters. I will post their photos and a description and if you are interested please email me your direct contact info to pass along. The current owners will contact you and decide their new homes.

They are little (big) meatballs 💕 also posting a sneak peak of my upcoming litters!!!! I’m excited to say we FINALLY have some females! These are not ready to reserve. I’ll post these in about 2 weeks.

I apologize for the last month of radio silence. Had some bad luck and minimal babies from pairings. Right now I am adjusting to a few personal/life changes, so I am sorry for the delay in responding to my messages. I plan to get to them all by the end of the week. I do have a litter of all males and one female that I hope to get posted on Friday or Saturday this week. If interested in the female you’d have to already have a female or females already.

The two gals I posted earlier were adopted. There is a trio of females that were adopted from me this past spring needing a new home. Due to family changes, they must give them up. They come with their cage, bedding, food, and toys. Their names are Elmo, Pepperoni and Godzilla. Elmo (grey) is exceptionally cuddly. She is described as sweet, bold, and brave. She loves to cuddle with her tiny human companion and loves shoulder rides. Godzilla and pepperoni are sweet and shyer than Elmo. They love their fleece swing.
