Fabulous couple of days on the moor this week with baby Nora. She worked well even in Gale force winds that we were struggling to stand up in. Saw a lot of grouse but they were very jumpy and lifting way before dogs could get a chance to properly get on to them. Nora was very good dropped to flush and watched them away. Looking forward to progressing her training. For first time on the moor and game she was excellent.

Out of interest, a lot of us get health insurance for our dogs, but how many of us have liability insurance cover for them?

At National Organisation of Beaters & Pickers Up, we do a Third Party Public Liability Cover for £35 per year. This will cover not only shooting, beating,picking up amongst some of the cover, but will also cover your dogs while out Working or Training should they cause accident or injury to a third party. It is well worth the cover. What if your dog ran out into the road in front of a car and damaged or wrote it off. Could you afford to pay to repair or replace it?

Fabulous 2 days back to back Novice HPR Shotover Days. Dogs worked hard and improvements on all of them since last year. Few birds in the bag. I thoroughly enjoy watching the dogs Working we have a good mix of people that encourage each other and come to enjoy their dogs and the days out in the countryside. Even more interesting us getting to watch Brittany Spaniels do their job. They are very much underrated in the shooting field, these little dogs work their socks of and love every minute of it. We also have spaniel de pont-Audemer another French HPR I doubt there have been many people seen them working here in the UK, a HWV, Long Haired Weimeraner and a Large Munsterlander. Well done everyone, we look forward to seeing you all again next month.

Had a fabulous morning over near Newmarket with Fullpip Gundog on a Picking Up Steadiness Day. Very well organised, I took one of my young Springers that will be starting his first full season next month. First time he has stood behind guns with a lot of shooting going on. He handled it very well along with finding the dummies launched in beet.

Highly recommend it to anyone that wants to warm their dogs up ready for the season.

Wheat just cut, dogs love having a mad dash around on stubble. They were so thrilled to be just playing retreive with an apple of the tree in the garden. 😂
