Here's so intersting info from Quoara.com"
Why are Coton de Tulears relatively unknown as a dog breed?
Originally Answered: A Coton de Tulear is little known. Do you know what it is? Why so little known?
Coton de Tulear is a rare breed of dog from the island nation of Madagascar that is relatively unknown, but that is changing due to the Internet.
Several years ago I used an online pet selection tool to find a breed of dog that would fit the following criteria:
Waterproof (can swim)
Very few congenital issues due to inbreeding (They are generally a very healthy breed)
Couch potato (They LOVE to cuddle!)
Intelligent
Communicative (this breed vocalizes in such an awesome way that you actually realize you are being talked to)
Not neurotic (small breeds that can swim tend to need a lot of work, praise, and attention or they get destructive; Cotons don't.
I believe the breed is not well known because the breeders and owners of this dog have fought to maintain high breed standards and they actively dissuade ownership from irresponsible types.

Do Coton de Tulear smell?
Coton de Tuléar Temperament - American Coton Club
Given that the Coton has hair rather than normal dog fur, you can expect a companion that has little or no shedding, no dander (a cause of allergies in people), no doggy odor even when wet, a dry coat that sheds dirt, a dog to snuggle up with on your couch, favorite chair, or in your bed, and a dog that has very few ...

Lily's litter is getting big and they are almost ready to go to their forever homes. (Two girls are still available.) People ask us if I start potty training or crate training the pups. Here is how we set up their indoor puppy pen to help introduce both of those things. They go in and out of the kennel at will and as of today they are about 75% reliable to potty on their artificial turf puppy pad. (We use a boot tray with an absorbent potty pad covered with green turf to mimic grass.) When the weather is nice they are in their outdoor pen on grass. We've found that this helps them transition to their new home very smoothly. 😊

Miss Pansy may be the smallest in this litter but she can hold her own - she's a little spitfire who's full of energy! She'll go to her new home dewormed and has had her first puppy vacine. Parents, Louie and Lily are AKC and UKC registered and Embark certified 100% Coton de Tulear. (Many puppies being sold as Cotons are not actually purebred Cotons - ask for proof!) We welcome home visits. Message with questions or to schedule a visit.

The puppies are 6 weeks old yesterday and spent their first afternoon outside. They've also transitioned into their "Big Puppy" pen in the house so potty training can begin. They are on a deworming schedule, will have their first vacination at 8 weeks old, and they'll be ready to go to their new homes at 10 weeks old. We are located about 1 hour north of Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. Inquire about your favorite puppy today!

Update 6/6/24: Flair met a very handsome Coton boy named Higgins recently and we are hoping their time together was productive! If so, the litter would arrive towards the end of July. Stay tuned for more updates!
We are still looking for an AKC registered male to breed to - ideally within 3 hours of Minneapolis St. Paul. Must have a clear health certificate. We'd like to offer pick of the litter as breeding compensation. Feel free to send a PM with questions - arrangements can be flexible.
LOOKING FOR LOVE! This is our Miss Flare. She is AKC registered, has been health tested, and is a great example of Coton temperament and confirmation. Arrangements and stud fee to be negotiated. Please send Private Message or email [email protected]. We are located about 1 hour north of Minneaplis/St. Paul.

The Bigs and Littles having some fun! 🥰
Our new pup Lily is learning how to play with her big sisters Violet and Flare. I could watch them all day. Our stud Louie sneaks in at the end of the clip. He doesn't enjoy the youngsters much......he prefers his ladies more mature. 🤣

Simplicity Farm’s Coton de Tulears
About Us
My name is Amy and my family and I are boutique pet breeders on our hobby farm in Central Minnesota. (That means that we are not a “puppy mill” and we don’t continually have puppies available.) I grew up with dogs and other animals, and my family and I enjoy sharing the joy of pets with others. They are an integral part of our family and we hope they will be to yours!
We have two Bernese Mountain Dogs but we decided we wanted to add a small breed to sit in our laps and to cuddle with. After much research to find a breed that fit us, and that would get along well with the Berners, we chose the Coton de Tulear (Cotons). We fell in love with their friendly and fun-loving nature and the fact that they just love to be by your side. They love to go for car rides and travel too! We strive to breed to the standards outlined by the UKC while taking into consideration the historic standards held by some of the historic Coton Clubs. If you haven’t done any research on the breed yet - please do - they are a very interesting breed with an unusual history.
I aim to have a life-long connection with my customers. It brings me great joy to watch our puppies grow up and bring joy to their human families. Please check out my reviews from previous customers. Our page is new so we hope that our puppy families will help us out and post comments and reviews. I am happy to provide personal puppy references!
About Our Puppies
We breed and sell adorable Coton puppies that are well socialized and grow up with our family in our living room. They get tons of attention from our children, grandchild, other dogs, and our other pets. The pups have outdoor time as weather permits and we continually have visitors and once the pups have had their first shots we begin to take them on short car trips. Our adult Cotons LOVE to go for car rides!
A Coton de Tulear may be for you if you are looking for a devoted companion who is super friendly and ready to play when you are. They are great with other pets, adults and children - although ANY pet should not be left unsupervised with very young children or children who are unfamiliar with dogs.) As they are very bonded with their human family, most Cotons see it as their job to alarm you of any potential danger. Some bark more than others but they are not typically a yappy dog. Whether they are following you around the yard, sitting next to you in the car, or snuggled up next to you in the evening as you read or watch TV, they love to be with you as much as possible. If you are willing to groom them regularly, they can have beautiful, soft, long white coats. Or if you don’t have enough time or inclination for daily grooming, you can keep their coats cut shorter in a “Puppy Cut.” Their coats are hypo-allergenic and for the most part and if groomed regularly they do not shed.
All of our adult dogs and puppies are registered with the UKC (United Kennel Club). Click here to find more information about breed standards https://www.ukcdogs.com/coton-de-tulear. As a new puppy owner, it is your option to register them with the AKC (American Kennel Club). This requires some extra paperwork, pictures and the UKC registration info to be submitted to the AKC.
Puppycare Protocal
I don’t believe in taking a new litter of puppies to the Vet before their first vaccination unless their are some health concerns so I give the first “Canine Spectra 5” vaccine which begins their immunization against Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus. You will need to continue the vaccine series as you and your Vet see fit. After much research, life experience and discussion with an amazing Holistic Vet, we ere on the side of fewer vaccines than rather than more: the first round of basic puppy vaccines and Rabies vaccine only. Instead of re immunizing every year we try to provide the best nutrition that we can via high quality dog food, fish oil, and a plant enzyme/probiotic to boost our dogs immune system so they can fight off any bad stuff that comes their way. The pups are currently being fed Fromm for Puppies - it’s in a hot pink colored bag. You can order it from chewy.com or you can find it in some specialty pet food stores. It’s more expensive that anything you can find at Walmart put it’s excellent quality and you will have less puppy dodo to pick up! Our adult Cotons are on a raw diet. You will need to do your own research and discuss vaccinations and feeding with your Vet. I am not a Vet. Cotons are very smart and learn quickly but like many small dog breeds they can be more difficult to potty train.
Last: No, I do not brush my dogs teeth. Our dogs do not get rawhide chewies - they get all natural Bully Sticks. Once a pup is around one year old I give them a raw bone once a month or so. ALWAYS RAW! For our big dogs it is usually a beef knucklebone, for the Cotons it’s a smaller bone - beef, pig or chicken - BUT NEVER COOKED BONE. This does a wonderful job of keeping their teeth clean. As earlier - I am not a VET - please make your own decisions after discussing with your Vet. I just know what I am comfortable with, and what works for our us and our pets.
In Conclusion
Please let me know if you have questions about our dogs or your new puppy. If I don’t have a good answer I can refer you to someone who does!
