The Professional Napping Circuit It takes much training and discipline to become one of the few elite on the Professional Napping Circuit. Does your pet have what it takes?

Professional Napping, a sport and performing art, is a popular form of entertainment world wide. The Pro Napping Circuit (PNC) is the highest pinnacle of animal sport’s competition primarily because of the natural and internal instinct to nap. While the sport has recently expanded to include all animals, the sport originated with dogs and their uncanny ability to sleep anywhere. Founded in 2009, t

he PNC was originally restricted to judging the quality of sleep a dog was getting in four major sleeping positions. Out of the four positions, four categories would be judged (position, deepness of sleep, sleep movement, and waking up). Dogs were the only competitors until a pioneering cat, Pixel Booth (NC), was the first non-canine to compete. On December 27, 2010, Pixel broke the species barrier, paving the way for other species to follow their dreams. After two years of competition at the individual level, the league expanded to include dual competition. For two pet households, this allows not only competition between pets, but also the ability for “napletes” to compete together. The first championship of dual competition went to Captain “One-Eyed” Jack Sparrow and Marcus “Bigfoot” Littleton, who upset the top-seeded brother duo of Odin and Loki Littleton. The current game has not strayed too far from how it started in 2009. Competitors are judged, as a general rule, on the basic style and complexity of their naps. The categories that are judged are: location (Where is the pet napping), length of the nap (How long is the pet asleep), deepness of sleep (Can the pet be aroused with slight motion or soft sounds?), body position (In what position is the pet while asleep), movement during sleep (How much is the pet moving during sleep), and waking-up (The style of how a pet wakes up). These categories are scored on a 0-10 scale (0 being the best) and points are added
on for faults in form. For example, nap location would receive a seven for
being in a dog bed, five points for a real bed, three points for on the couch,
and zero points for a creative location such as getting wedged between
furniture or sleeping over three feet off of the ground. Also, a five would be
awarded in the body position category for a simple lay down, three points for a
side-laying position, and zero points for on-the-back or a full-standup
position. These scores for every category are added up and the lowest score
wins the competition. Thus, the “perfect game” of the PNC is a ZZZZZZero. The PNC provides all animals with a way to prove their athletic prowess. While dog races are great, only greyhounds can do it professionally. Many dogs also play a role in hunting or trapping, but human control still looms over. The PNC is an animal only league that allows pets to truly show their unique skills in napping. Even as puppies, dogs dream of making it to The Circuit, in fact, the bulk of their young puppy lives are taken up with practicing and dreaming of their chances with the PNC. However, competitors must be two-years old for the pro league. The PUPNC (Puppy Napping Circuit) is open to the little fellas from ages 0-3. The one year buffer zone allows advanced nappers to go pro, while the younger guys can have a year to develop. The Pro Napping Circuit asserts itself as the premiere sporting league
for pets everywhere. The PNC is dedicated to showcasing the athletic ability and
cuteness of napping pets.
