Just because the 5am alarm for hound exercise this morning wasn’t enough.. 😅
This evening we took Coby & Indi to AVH Fun Ride, this was Coby’s first Fun Ride which he throughly enjoyed. Very honest chap with a lovely steady pace. Looking forward to getting him out and about more with Amy 🌟

Something so rewarding looking at sisters Indi & Lula side by side being ridden. Both brought un-broken together when Indi was 2 and Lula a foal. Fast forward 3 years and they’re both now out hacking together, soon to be hunting 🫶🏼

Golden oldie Shetland’s having a Hunter clip to help with their comfort. Shetlands naturally have thicker coats and are more prone to heath conditions such as Cushings and EMS✂️

Hound exercise dates for your diary!
Please do come along and join us, anyone welcome. We are hosting a mixture of Bike and ridden hound exercises.
Mounted hound exercise is £15pp with refreshments provided after. A great way to build yours or your horses confidence before the hunting season starts. Young or first time horses are welcome, perfect opportunity to introduce into large group of horses and see hounds safely before the season.

Push bike hound exercise dates and locations all @ 7:30am:
* Saturday 27th July- Kennels
* Saturday 3rd August- Kennels
* Saturday 10th August- Haymans Farm EX5 3HZ

Mounted hound exercise dates and locations all at 7:30am:
* Saturday 17th August- Higher Luxton Farm TA3 7PN
* Saturday 24th August- Long Chimney EX10 0PE

National Trail Hunting day is Saturday 14th September. This is a national event organised by the BHSA where all hunts & supporters will be invited to come together as one to demonstrate what Trail hunting is to show the public, press, police, organisations etc how we carry on our much loved lifestyle and tradition within the law.
More details and information will be announced soon.

🪮 Mane & Tail Tidy’s- Techniques are custom to the individual horse depending on hair type and their comfort (Traditional pulling, Trimming with professional scissors and Thinning rake)
✂️ Clipping and Trimming during the summer months is still just as important as winter (YES, clipping after Feb is allowed) Health conditions such as- Mites, Lice, Cushings disease, Sweet-itch, EMS etc all are well managed and controlled by clipping, keeping horses as comfortable as possible all year around. Not only health issues warrant summer clipping, plenty are clipped all year around due to the hot weather
Trimmer Tidy up’s- Bridle path, beard, ear trim, fetlocks, feathers and Blending offered

🔋 I use battery and mains Clippers + Trimmers, so an electricity supply isn’t needed at yard or field, I carry two types of blades with various (light, medium and heavy) duty clippers to cater for all types of horses and coats- Fine (1.4mm) & Medium (2.5mm)

📍 I travel up to an hour from EX10, no travel fee up to 10miles. If travel fee is issued, I try my best to ensure travel is split between all on that day in local areas so the cost is low as possible. When booking please notify me of yard/field postcode or What3Words.

Super chuffed with Lula. After slowly taking time do to ground work with her, long reining and leading out, on the weekend Lula went on her first big girl hack down the lane and back.
Big thanks to .buckland09 who was the test dummy as I would be more of use on the ground next to them incase anything went wrong. Amy rode beautifully quiet and soft, Lula was foot perfect not batting an eyelid at anything or traffic. Very excited for Lula’s ridden career this summer 💪🏼🐴
Let’s hope she follows in her sister’s footsteps, big hooves to fill from Indi 🐎 💨

With event’s in full flow, you may be looking at your tack thinking it could do with some TLC.
I know most people don’t enjoy Tack Cleaning, but luckily I do!
When I get tack to be cleaned, all is taken apart for the cleaning, oiling (as many times as it needs) and conditioning process. This allows all parts of the leather, buckles and keepers to soak up all the goodness and soften. Oiling is such an important process of keeping tack supple and safe which is commonly missed from the quick ‘wipe over’ many do. Dry, cracked leather can lead to bridles, rein’s and stirrup leathers more commonly breaking causing unwanted accidents.

Ideally for the best results, tack is taken back to my yard for a couple of days. Mobile tack cleaning is available just the oiling process may be compromised.
