Rocky's Tail:

Rocky wandered into a commercial area last week & into the hall of an office complex trying yo escape the heat. He had a ID tagged & the owner was contacted. The owner didn't seem too eager to retrieve Rocky. But he gave a brief history that he was the 2nd owner. He did not have Rocky that long. The previous owners had paid for eye surgery for Rocky. He described him as a very chill dog that his little dog constantly beat up on.
Rocky is in poor condition. He is very underweight, had fleas, plus some skin abrasions & eye issues. It's been a week but Rocky has put on weight. He has been treated for fleas. And he is getting regular eye drops that have helped tremendously. He is an old dude for sure.
Watching him claim a soft dog bed as his own for the first time & then sleeping the entire night in it was priceless.

Rocky will be visiting Dr Moniz for a check up & treatment for his arthritis issues.

A local community cat colony caretaker required emergency surgery. We have been feeding the colonies while he recuperate. So many hungry kitties as well as a few Trash Pandas. It requires about 22 lbs of cat food every nite. That's about $600 a month since the cost of cat food has increased.

Poppi rescued himself. While feeding community cats he jumped into the back seat & helped himself to dinner. He has been living by himself in a field for past few months. He was obviously someone's pet at one time & has no hunting skills to feed himself which means he only ate when a colony feeder came to give him food. He is so sweet, friendly & affectionate that he deserves to be apart of a family.
Today he is getting vet checked, vaccinated & neutered.

Interested in meeting this bundle of love? The adoption process is very simple. Reach out to us in a DM.

Follow up on Ping's case:
Ping presented with a severe skin infection that included multiple ruptured abcesses on his neck. He is a beautiful Siamese kitty, just one of many community cats living on the streets.
Couple weeks of antibiotics, deworming, treatment for fleas & a steady diet high in protein & Ping is on the mend. His fur is growing back. He put on weight. Next week he will be neutered & vaccinated.
Another Happy Tail that took a small village to accomplish!!

We contacted the microchip co about Dodger. Hid microchip had an owner name but no contact info plus the name of who inserted the chip - The Animal Foundation. An email exchange with then revealed Dodger is originally from Las Vegas & that he came to them whe animal control confiscated him. His owner did reclaim him. That was 2015! An internet search produced no info on a possible owner.

Thurs Dodger was seen by the vet. His skin issue is overgrown yeast issue due to allergies. When he is at full weight a small growth will need to be removed. But his heart sounds
great! He has already put on weight too!

This is Gator aka Dodger. He was staggering along the main road thru Everglades NP under the hot 95° sun. A dog lover stopped & he hopped into her vehicle & off they went to safety. He is extremely sweet & laid back. In true pittie style he wants to be friends with everyone.
When we scanned him we found out his name is Dodger. We are awaiting contact from the microchip company to get more info on his family.
Meanwhile Dodger is off to the vet tomorrow to have some of his medical issues addressed.

We reached out again to the dogs owners & explained since its been almost 2 weeks it might be better that we find the dogs new homes. Owner called immediately & came to pick up within an hr. Dogs were extremely happy to see him. He explained that no one is able to touch the husky cause he bites. We were able to groom him & play with him with some patience & training.

Update: we found the owner. An older spanish speaking man which is why no response to online posts. He recently acquired the husky which explains why the husky is thinner & looks a little beat up. They will pick up tomorrow. We going to try to clean them up before then.

July 2 we saw this bonded pair running the area but were unable to help them because they just kept running. July 4 they ran into our lives again. It took 3 hrs to gain the huskies trust & get a leash around his neck. He was not happy having his neck touched. Suddenly the German Shepherd came running down the street terrified by the fireworks. It took some effort but we got both secured for the night & treated for fleas & anxiety. Both are microchipped but only the GSD is registered. We reached out to the owner.
Both will be groomed & taken to the vet in the next few days.

We received terrible news that one of our Tails has died of cancer. Sunny was rescued from the street underweight, lethargic, overbred & scared. An amazing family adopted her. It was a rocky start with Sunny & the resident kitties. But with some training Sunny found her best friend - a kitty!
We are so thankful for Sunny's family loving her & giving her a great life. 🩷🩷🩷

We welcome Sid to the Tail to Remember family. Sid showed up at a dog lovers home scratching on the door to come in. We got the request to please help. Sid is only about 7 lbs, 14+ yrs old, blind in 1 eye & has only a few teeth left. It appears Sid was very loved & extremely pampered at one time leading us to believe his owner died & he was dumped by a family member. Due to his age & health condition Sid will live the remainder of his days with us.

Because of Sids dental issues he does require soft food. He will also need a full senior check up. If you would like to donate to Sids care it can be done via:

Yesterday was Spay Day for our girls. Both did great handling the crowd & the other barking dogs. We are very proud of Abigail who came to us so terrified that she refused to walk. Volunteers told us she was one of their favorite dogs of the day with her big smile!
Especially touching was when Daisy was released from her holding kennel she ran down the aisle to Abigail's kennel & waited for her to be let out. They rubbed nose to greet each other!

A happy Tail for the day!

Ronson & Murphy are looking for their forever home. They are morkies (Maltese Yorkie mix), bonded brothers, 3 yrs old. They are neutered & up to date on vaccines. They are very shy but very loving when they warn up to you. The best home for them is a home with no young children.

They are currently living with their original family & the family is invested in helping them adapt to their new home. They want the boys to be happy & loved.
Interested in adding these 2 boys to your family? Send is a dm with your email address.

(Adoption donation is $150 for the pair.)

Cats need cats. New research is showing that cats are not the lone animals we think they are. We have just disrupted their socialization process by making them only 1 cat homes

This is proof. One of our petsit clients had 1 cat. He struggled with anxiety. They decided to adopt him a sibling. Now he is a much calmer much happier cat. And because they followed the correct way to introduce cats the kitties are bonded & love to play together.
So if you have only 1 cat ... or 1 dog ... consider a 2nd to make them happier.

Remember Abigail? The Dog fighting survivor that was also overbred for her puppies? We are so extremely proud of her & her progress. Today visit to the vet went great. She not only was so much more confident she smiled at everyone she met. The vet techs all fell in love with her. She jumped up into her transport crate inside the suv .. which shows she no longer fears being dumped.
Love & patience heals emotional wounds!

Clyde's Tail:
Clyde has been cared for by his colony feeder for about 4 yrs. He only shows up at feeding time, eats, & runs off. Because he roamed TNR was difficult to arrange. One day his caregiver noticed something wrong with the back of his ear. Within a few days it became a very serious bleeding & infected wound. It took a couple of tries but the feeder was able to get him into a small dog cage. We began treatment immediately. Clyde is super sweet & very easy to deal with. The most difficult task was getting photos to document his progress because he likes to give head butts & snuggles.
Clyde recovered rather quickly & was neutered & vaccinated at the county clinic. But Clyde is vision impaired in one eye. Going back to his old stomping ground which is bordered by 2 very busy streets is not ideal. The plan is for his caregiver to take him home & see how he does with the other cats.

Clyde's happy tail!

Oscar Tail Update:

Oscar has been with us about 10 days. His skin condition has improved. He has recovered from his Upper Respiratory Infection. Tonite we discovered that Oscar is grouchy friendly... he let us give him a sponge bath. We were able to remove an incredible amount of dirt & dead skin. Oscar actually leaned into pur hand & left his chin. His favorite thing is to have his ears scratched.
Oscar has more healing to do. But he is making progress.

This is Oscar our newest Tail. (He's a crusty sort of fella. )
Oscar was found sitting in middle of the street not moving. A kind animal lover moved him to her garage & reached out to neighbors for help. We became aware of Oscar thru a cat lover & we offered help. (Rescue really is a group effort of love.)

Oscar has received treatment for his severe scabies & his Upper Respiratory Infection. The skin from his head to his shoulders is thick & crusty because of the mites. Movement is difficult. But he wolfed down an entire 5 oz can of Blue Buffalo cat food.

Oscar's happy Tail is just beginning. Because his immune system is compromised he will not return to living on the street. He will move into one of our cat enclosures where he can live safe, content & well fed.

Another happy Tail.

Cat parent consults with us about her cat peeing on her expensive sofa. After a few questions we discover that the cat is DECLAWED!! And the litter is a pellet type litter. Owner had no idea that declaring was essential giving her inflicting a lifelong painful disability on the kitty she loves. Vets need to educate their patients!!

What miracles can happen in 8 days. Abigail has went from a terrified dog that could barely walk, covered in scars & wounds, very thin to a much more confident dog. Her wounds are healing. We realized at some point she was hit by a car & had road rash on her hind quarters which has also healed. She is now about the ideal weight for a dog her size. This morning she went on her 1st real walk to explore. We constantly reassure her that she is safe & its ok for her to be a happy dog. Abigail has really stole our hearts.

Sweet Abigail is now safe with us and her happy Tail is beginning.
12/28 we got a call from an animal lover who found an abandoned dog. The poor thing had been sitting in the same spot for days... thru the cold weather. When we saw the picture of her we saw her face was covered in scars from dog bite wounds. When we picked her up we realized just how bad her condition is. She is too terrified to walk. We have to carry her outside for potty. She is older & has arthritis & hip dysplasia which is very painful. She has had numerous litters of puppies. She has scabies. She is very underweight.
The worst is ... she is covered in dog bite scars. Not just her face but body, legs, paws, hindquarters. She has definitely been thru terrible trauma. Yet she is extremely sweet natured. She melts when she is petted. She soaks up any love she gets. From now on her life is going to be full of love.

We are prepping for the cold weather that is moving in upon us. Cats can withstand cold weather because they fluff their fur & the air between their hair insulates them. BUT they must stay dry. We have set up outdoor shelters & an enclosed area with a heater.

Thor Update:
It has been a week since Thor was in the ER. He has been doing AMAZING!!! When he got to the ER he was minutes away from dying. Now he is playing with his catnip toy & hanging out. He has given us a few scares. He is using Pretty Litter to help determine is there is any changes in his urine. He has passed a few more stones. The prescription food is helping break those stones up so he can pass them. And he is on pain meds to help with any pain. So far no more blockages.

We have only raised about $100 to cover the $1700. Please consider a small donation!

Saturday night we were pleased to find Thor greatly improved. He was eating & drinking & there was less blood in his urine.

We still have to raise the funds to cover this very bill. Please donate. It's the only way we can help abandoned cats like Thor.
