Chores follow us every day, sometimes we put them off, sometimes we schedule them. Due to living on a road at the crest of a hill which has wetlands at the bottom of both ends of it, we have survived a few decades without suffering loss of water thru the drought years...like this one. Of course we don't push our luck by car washing, or clothes washing here and use a laundry mat in the next town over. The offspring unit called me from her place and asked if I wanted to do Laundry yesterday. only requirement was her dog had to come too. No, they don't have a dog wash station, and they do have a wonderful town green, and sidewalks on most streets.....along with the traffic a large town has. The good thing about taking a livestock guardian breed of dog to a place not their own, is he could not give a care in the world about what anyone else was doing. We loaded up a few machines and off we went block walking. The length of wash, rinse, and spin is equal to the pace of a Great Pyr in patrol mode. First comments came from people going into a church for(?) reasons....."Is that a Polar Bear?" I had to say nothing about the much asked question that people seem to find amusing......as one of their family corrected them with 'Great Pyrenees', so we had to agree that he is a Great Pyr. 10 points to their family member for their dog savy-ness. He's been mistaken as an O.E. Sheepdog, an Anatolian shepherd...(so not) and best of all a white Saint Bernard (as apposed to a pony). What I totally enjoy about walking him in town, is he gets to be himself, a big furry, drooly, puppyish old man, out for a bit of exercise and sunshine. Stopping at the local Ice cream shop for two cones and a pup cup tops off our morning that would otherwise have been called a chore. So there is another reason to Adopt a rescued dog. They make Chores a joy!
