Hello friends, clients, clients who have become close friends....

Sorry I was MIA for awhile

Sometimes life and bad health get in the way...

But our business is still going strong!!

A huge shout-out of thanks to a very special woman who helped me to keep the business going in the same manner and standards I hold to myself.

Jolean Clarkin of K9 Advanced Dog Training... you are amazing, and I love you so much!@!

It really means the world to me to know that my clients were in the best of care until things calmed down here medically.

It is rare to find someone who shares your work ethics, your training modalities, and puts the same love and care into each one of my clients the same way I do!!

Things have finally calmed down here a bit, and I have no more orthopedic surgeries looming around the corner... so over the past few months I have taken advantage of several dog training workshops, seminars, and the International Association of Canine Professionals conference so that I could bring my clients the newest and most updated training modalities available!!

I look forward to working with each and every one of you!! New clients and returning ones!!!

OK... so, we have all heard the saying "The Third Time is a Charm" Right??

I am hoping this is the case for two reasons! The first reason is this is now the THIRD time I am trying to post this, because my FB page keeps cutting out!!

But the REAL reason I am hoping 'They" (whoever the 'they' are) is correct is because I am signing up for the Training Seminar / Workshop upstate N.Y. at the New Skete Monasteries with Marc Goldberg and Brother Christopher!!

I have been dying to attend this seminar, and I signed up for it twice, and both times I had to cancel because I ended up having to go back into the operating room both times!!!

This has been my absolute ultimate dream to attend this, so if everyone can cross their fingers and send up a little prayer that I stay out of the operating room until at LEAST July, I would be ever so grateful!!!!!

There has to be some kind of irony here.... that I am asking people to pray that I make it to a monetary!!! hahaha
(Sometimes I just crack myself up!!!)

So, as I look a bit closer at this picture of me working with this Berner pup, I have to laugh!

Reason why? I bet all of my dog trainer friends saw it immediately... but I will fill my non-dog trainer friends in on the 'funny' part....

It is very obvious (to me NOW anyway) that when this picture was taken, I was still learning how to use the remote-collar for the pressure-on, pressure off, instead of relying on the lead for it......

On the dog is the remote receiver, on my neck is the remote transmitter, and I am using NEITHER and still luring the dog with a treat!!!

I think my remote collar guru and teacher Jolean Clarkin from K9 Advanced Dog Training will LOVE this picture!!

Why am I posting this here??
Because I think it is important for clients to see this! As Professional Dog Trainers, oftentimes we come into your home, and make it look so easy! And I am SURE that could be a bit intimidating at times.... but I think it is very important that our clients know that at one time or another, every trick or task we teach, had to be learned by us at one time too!! And we were less than perfect at it during the learning process!!

I bet if I walked into YOUR job that you have been doing for 30+ years, I would be clueless!! See less

****UPDATE****
Hicks was adopted last night by a wonderful family!!

So happy for him!
He adored the kids right off the bat! Kind of ignored his new Mom and Dad at first, and made a bee-line straight for the kids!! But he eventually found his way over to meet his new Mom and Dad.

And the best part of all? Thanks to Covid, the family all has plenty of time to really bond with him, and him with them!!

Congratulations to Hicks, and to the Armendariz family!! So thrilled for you all, and honored to have been a part of you finding each other!!

And a quick shout-out of gratitude and appreciation for Milena Almiron. Without your help, Hicks would not have found his "Happily ever after"

This is now the second time you have helped me to help a sweet and wonderful dog find a great fur-ever home. From both Hicks and me, we sincerely thank you!!

Hello to All:
Sweet, loving young male searching for a committed relationship!!
Must love wet sloppy kisses, and have a good sense of humor, as I can be a bit of mischievous!

I enjoy playtime… I am open and excited for any game you choose, especially fetch! I never tire of that silly game!

I love to go on long walks, and I LOVE car rides…. makes no difference to me where we are going, so long as we are together, I am happy!!

However, if you do have to go out without me, I am perfectly comfortable to hang out in my crate. I will happily lie down and chill out until you are home again!

I know many commands and I am happy to perform them for you at any given time. I know SIT, DOWN, STAY, OFF, LEAVE IT, PLACE, and I love to SHAKE hands.

I never potty inside… I will always tell you if I must go!

I just turned a year old, so I have a lot of puppy energy, but I still love to lie down next to you and cuddle.

I am currently living at my trainer’s house. She has helped me to understand that pulling my owner down the block with me is not acceptable behavior. She now walks me with a Transitional Leash.

Occasionally I still get a bit too over-excited when another dog passes me, but my trainer can show you how she works me through that. It will just take a bit of time and consistency till I get it.

My trainer recommends that I be the only dog in the house. I was raised with another dog, and I am around other dogs in her home, but I tend to be very picky about which dogs I like and which I don’t. I especially do not like strange dogs coming right up into my face. I need a bit of time to acclimate to other dogs.

I am about 50 pounds, and my trainer says I have a small ridge on my neck, so I most probably am a ridgeback mix.

Oh! I almost forgot to tell you I am also current and up to date on all of my vaccinations and dewormings, and I am already neutered!

My favorite new song is from Queen, and every day I beg my owner to “FIND ME SOMEBODY TO LOVE”

If you are that somebody, please call my trainer, Suzanne at Home Instead of Alone, Inc. 516-749-8302 Or you can private message her on Facebook.

Hi folks..... been a while again since I have posted, so I found a video someone who I admire and follow put out about service dogs that I wanted to share with you.

Many of you know that Service Dog work is very close to my heart, and I have worked very hard to learn all I can about it on a regular basis.....

And one thing I see quite often with professional trainer friends is the annoyance that comes when people 'ignore' the warnings on the vest the dog is wearing saying 'Service Dog.... do not pet.... do not distract'

But one thing I know is that while it is easy to get annoyed with it, many of you just do not understand WHY it is so important that you not pet or distract a service dog!! The fact is, before I got involved in this amazing field, I did not know the 'why' of it either.

So rather than get annoyed or angry, I wanted to educate you..... and this video by YouTuber Molly Burke explains the whys of it beautifully.... so I wanted to share it with you so you too can get a better understanding of the dangers of distracting or petting a service dog.

Enjoy and learn!!!!

Hello everyone!!! So sorry it has been awhile since I have posted or updated anyone on our site.

There are always pros and cons to owning a small personal business..... the pros, I get to be very hands on with my clients.... which means many of you who have started out as a client, have become very close personal friends over the years!! It also means for new clients, that when they call me on the phone, and I build a rapport with them, and I understand their needs..... I don't go ahead and then send a total stranger to their house to train their dog. You start with me.... you end with me. I am there for everything..... the 'touch ups' when needed and the phone calls in between.

However, there is always a bit of a downside as well, and for me, that down side is when a family member or friend needs me, certain aspects of the company may have to go on hold for a bit.
