Here at Heaven’s Sunshine Acres we are not a kennel, we are a family that loves golden retrievers! Our dogs are raised in our home as part of our family. We have been busy earning titles on our dogs, showing them at the fair and keeping them healthy and active. When we raise puppies those puppies are NOT raised in a kennel and checked on a few times per day, instead they are RAISED IN OUR HOME and attached garage. We are very involved with our puppies and take the responsibility seriously of providing you with a well socialized, healthy and sound golden retriever puppy. The first 12 weeks of a puppy’s life are critical for proper socialization. As a breeder we strive to safely expose our puppies to as many new sounds, textures, people, animals and experiences as possible. Doing this results in a well rounded and less fearful dog. Getting these little ones off to a good start can positively impact them for a lifetime!

Big News! Anna was recently bred to Max. She will have an ultrasound soon to confirm pregnancy. The due date is September 13 and puppies go home around November 12. We can’t wait to meet their puppies! Both Anna and Max have champions in their lines. Anna is a Certified Therapy Dog through Therapy Dog International, has a Canine Good Citizen title, and Novice Trick Dog Title. She showed in 4H Showmanship at the Darke County Fair receiving first place. She is a much loved family pet and house dog. Anna is a laid back snuggler, intelligent, super gentle with children and an all around great family dog. Max is a super sweet and friendly guy. He is eager to please and learns quickly. He is well muscled with a lovely coat. Max exemplifies the typical golden personality! Both Anna and Max have their recommended OFA health clearances and have been genetically health tested. Their puppies will be raised in our home and attached garage with plenty of love and care as they become the center of attention in our household. They will be well socialized with people of all ages and put through Early Neurological Stimulation, also known as the US Military Super Dog Program and Early Scent Introduction. Anna and Elsa just earned their AKC Novice Trick Dog Titles. In order to the earn the Trick Dog title the handler must choose from a list of tricks to have their dog perform in front of an AKC Evaluator. 10 tricks must be performed unless the dog already has the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Title in which 5 tricks must be performed. Congratulations Anna and Elsa!

Anna and Elsa are now Certified Therapy Dogs through Therapy Dog International! They just completed a 7 week class at The Whitewater Valley Dog Training Club in Richmond, Indiana, and were evaluated by a Therapy Dog International evaluator and passed! Thanks John at Whitwater for being a great instructor. Our daughters Miriam and Naomi have done such a wonderful job training these 2 young goldens. Soon they can begin going on therapy visits to places such as hospitals, nursing homes, schools and libraries.

Puppy Socialization 101- Weeks 2-12 of a puppy’s life are the most important window for puppies to experience new things like sights, sounds and textures.
One way we do that at Heaven’s Sunshine Acres is by getting creative and finding different textured materials for puppies to walk across and experience. Helping puppies experience many new things during this critical time makes for a well rounded and less fearful dog.
