The truck got a bit of attention today at the Snake Bite course.
The truck got a bit of attention today at the Snake Bite course. This truck is an educational item. My friend Mark O’Shea, one of the ultimate Herp people I’ve ever met. Has done a 26 minute program about every snake this on this truck. The truck has speakers underneath. And the recording is in a loop. So anywhere we park the truck we just let it play and people can be educated without us not even being involved. I want to thank Mark O’Shea so much for doing such a professional job. There’s people being educated and learning anywhere it’s parked!
Lasering the transformer net system?
Machining on the transformer net head. it’s a bit long, but interesting. If you like to see machine processes, and the real thing we do here in house.

Introducing the Midwest Tongs Educational Talking Truck.
This is a project I have been thinking about for years, then the combination of vehicle-wrap advertising and the pandemic lockdown gave me the
opportunity I needed to work out all the details.
At Midwest Tongs, our goal has always been to produce the best quality snake and animal handling equipment, but I've always felt it would be a good
idea to have something where people could see the name of a snake and match it up to the pattern and see what they really look like, so that if they
come across a snake near their home or at the lake, for instance, they will know if it is venomous and hopefully can avoid it. The copperhead is the one
I’m asked about the most in the Kansas City area, but what do they look like? We’ve got it on our truck, along with 10 other venomous snakes found in
the US and in other areas around the world.
In addition to the photos, I asked my friend Mark O’Shea if he would narrate the species that are on our truck, and as usual, he did an exceptional job of
creating a 26 minute audio educational program, broken down by species into small audio clips, discussing details of the 11 snakes shown on the truck
plus some other helpful snakebite information. If you are unfamiliar with Mark O'Shea, he is an English herpetologist, photographer, author, lecturer, and
is known internationally as the presenter of the Animal Planet/Discovery Channel series O'Shea's Big Adventure, and we have been friends for over
25 years.
So by combining the photos and names of snakes with the audio recordings of Mark O'Shea giving descriptions and details, we have created an
opportunity for people to educate themselves and their children whenever they see the truck parked. If you see this truck parked, and you’re
interested in learning about snakes or snakebite, just walk around it and you should be able to hear Mark O’Shea narrating details about the specific
snakes and snakebite information,

Why Does Midwest Tongs Use Red On The Tip Of Our Tongs?
Why does Midwest Tongs use the color red on our snake tongs? It is not an accident! You count on knowing how your animals will react in certain situations and encoding with color is a vital step in this process. Midwest Tongs has been the gold standard in tongs for decades and we have used the color red as a way to help you train behaviors you need to occur when you work with your animals. Changing colors can undo years of work and training - don't do it!

Handling Snakes and Rescuing Unusual Pets - KC Currents Interviews Dana Savorelli
The long days of summer are here, and at least some kids are splashing in creeks, looking for frogs and snakes. But how many will turn that curiosity about animals into a career?
For KC Currents' Odd Jobs segment, Sylvia Maria Gross recently visited Greenwood, Missouri, where a local daredevil took his childhood love of creepy, crawly things and turned it into a business.
Dana Savorelli founded Midwest Tongs, a company that manufactures snake-handling tools, and he runs the non-profit Monkey Island Rescue and Zoological Sanctuary.
