My name is Nowzad Sharifa and here is my story:

I was born in Mazar-e-Sharif and I lived close to the famous shrine. When I was a puppy some people tied some string to my neck which got really tight as I got bigger. I was also homeless so I developed a severe case of mange as well. A kind person finally noticed my horrendous condition and contacted Nowzad. I was immediately sent to Nowzad where t

hey operated on me to remove the string from my neck and also treated my mange... and of course, they gave me the name Sharif! Under Nowzad's care I have flourished and everyone tells me I am like a lioness. After visiting the Nowzad clinic, one of the Trustees, David fell in love with me and after tragically losing his Nowzad rescue 'Billy' to a neurological condition, him and his wife Ann have generously offered to give me a loving home. They have added an 'a' to the end of my name as my name was quite boyish so I am now known as Sharifa!
