Happy National Pizza Day!
Since most of us here in Michigan are just a lil bit bitter about who is facing off today in the big game (and we are not talking about the Puppy Bowl, the game that really counts) let's focus on a more important topic......delicious, awesome, and always inclusive, PIZZA.
These chilly months are the perfect time to PERFECT your very own homemade pizza, and we've got all the ingredients you need to create said perfection.
We have all-pupose flour from King Milling Co., Ltd. that you can get from Heffron Farms, plus double zero flour from New Mission Milling. Grab a jar of marinara ffrom West Michigan Pasta and Provisions for any easy sauce, or go rogue and do a white pizza with a flavored olive oil from Old World Olive Co.
The new cheeses we have from The Cheese People of Grand Rapids would be lovely, or spoon some dabs of Evergreen Lane Creamery fresh goat cheese on top. Being partial to mushrooms, we'd get the sale mix from Mycophile's Garden and go to town, with a hit of pepperoni from Creswick Farms. And don't miss on fresh micros from 1st Micro Greenery or Crisp Country Acres, those herbs really add an important bright note to your pie at the end.
