Well I have just delivered the last of my beautiful guinea pigs to a lovely lady from Dorset called Kirsty.
For the first time in 17 years I don’t have any guinea pigs and it feels weird.
It’s going to take time to become used to this.🥹

Regretfully Oak Brook Guinea Pigs will no longer be offering boarding.
Due to some on going health problems,I have had to cancel my summer boarders and I think this is the right time to retire.

I have been breeding and boarding guinea pigs for over 15 years now and have met some fantastic people and their guineas along the way.
I would like to thank you all for the support and loyalty you have shown me over the years, in particular those of you who bought their 1st guinea pig from me and still come here to board or buy another.

Skin infections are fairly common in the guinea pig community.
Even the most fastidious of owners can have an outbreak of ring worm or parasites at some point.
It isn’t always easy to tell the difference between a parasitic or fungal infection. Both cause bald spots, skin irritation and red inflamed areas on the guinea pigs skin. With a fungal infection, such as ringworm, the hair pulls out easily and the skin can look white and crusty, if the guinea scratches the patches become red and raw. Fungal infections often start on the face, commonly around the nose and mouth or the ears. However fungal infections can occur anywhere on the body.
If the hair is thinning or there are bald patches and broken hair shafts, the problem is parasitic. It is possible to see the mites moving in the guinea pigs hair, much like the hair lice children can get.
Both types of problem can spread easily between guinea pigs, so it’s important you act quickly and treat both the patient and their room mates at the same time.
The conventional method of a dip is used to treat a fungal infection, it can be found on line under the name of Imavarol, or you can ask you local vet to prescribe it for you. If treating small areas the human fungal creams can be used, such as Daktarin and Canestan cream. Apply the cream up to four times a day.
For parasites you can buy spot on lotions on line or in your local pet shop.
The parasite killing ingredient is known as Ivermectin. Follow all instructions and dosage amounts carefully. If your pet is severely affected take it to the vet.
Alternatively herbal and natural products can be tried, try Gorgeous Guinea’s products they are great.x

This was one of my orphans at 3 weeks old I hand fed her until she could drink herself. She went to live with one of my ladies and her guinea pigs
and she is now one of the biggest guinea pigs she has.

This Is Alby and his son Bertie. Alby is 16 months old and Bertie is 7 months old. The boys are Abyssinian cross Peruvian and need there hair taken care of. Both boys are beautiful and Alby loves a cuddle. Bertie is very vocal but very funny. I am looking to re- home this pair and would like a kind and caring family to adopt them. Hi This is Tiggy and her daughter Molly, Tiggy is 18 month’s and Molly is 10 month’s. Both girls are the Abyssinian and Molly’s dad was a short haired Californian piggy. Oak Brook Guinea pigs is closing after 15 years of business . For this reason I am re-homing all my guinea pigs and looking for caring and loving homes for them to go to. I would like the girls to go together for a price of £20 the pair.
These girls are very vocal and protest a lot but they have so much character and are most entertaining.
