Just a dog. 🥰
From time to time people tell me “chill out, it’s just a dog” or “it’s a lot of money just for a dog.” They don't understand the distance traveled, the time invested or the costs incurred by "just a dog". Some of my proudest moments have occurred with “just a dog.”
Many hours have passed being my only company "just a dog", but not for one moment did I feel despised. Some of my saddest moments have been because of “just a dog,” and on those gray days, the gentle touch of “just a Dog” gave me comfort and the reason to get through the day.
If you also think “it’s just a dog”, then you’ll probably understand phrases like “just a friend”, “just a sunrise” or “just a promise.” “Just a dog” brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust and pure unbridled joy. “Just a dog” brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person.
For "just a dog" I will get up early, take long walks and look forward to the future. So for me and people like me, it’s not “just a dog,” but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the memories of the past, and the absolute joy of the moment. “Just a dog” brings out the good in me and takes my thoughts away from myself and daily worries.
I hope one day they can understand that it’s not “just a dog”, but the one that gives me humanity and keeps me from being “just a human.” So the next time you hear the phrase “just a dog”, just smile because they “just don’t get it”.

I know advice can vary but generally if your dog catches kennel cough it’s best to keep them away from other dogs and to do so after symptoms persist for 14 days as they may still be contagious! 🐾 Hope all the pups make a speedy recovery! 💗
💥 KENNEL COUGH 💥
As many of you may already know we are having an outbreak of kennel cough in Aberdeen and shire at the moment. Kennel cough is highly contagious and spread through nose to nose contact with an infected dog, airborne droplets and contaminated surfaces or equipment (such as food and water bowls).
Symptoms to look out for..
💥 Dry and ‘hacking’ cough. This usually becomes worse with exercise or excitement. Dogs may cough so much they bring up white foam or make themselves vomit.
💥 General lethargy, sleeping more than usual and occasionally off food.
💥 Mild fever
Dogs who are vaccinated against Kennel Cough can sometimes still contract it due to new strains constantly developing, the vaccine may cause symptoms to be more mild.
If your dog gets Kennel Cough 😷
👍 Avoid strenuous exercise for 14 days once symptoms start. Do not walk in areas with high doggy footfall to help prevent spread.
🙌 Keep your dog warm and well rested for the next couple of weeks. Avoid over excitement and high energy games.
👍 Moistened kibble or wet food can help to make food more appetising for inappetent dogs, help with hydration and soothe irritated throats.
🙌 Consider using a harness instead of a collar while your dog is infected to lessen throat irritation.
👨⚕️ Dogs usually improve without treatment but If your worried that your pet is very unwell or the cough persists they may require a veterinary examination. For any questions please contact your branch 👩⚕️

🐾 Today we launch our campaign on the 30th anniversary of the Dangerous Dogs Act.
Every year we are forced to put dogs to sleep who have never harmed anyone. But an outdated law has determined they are dangerous. If they were any other breed, they’d be off to a loving forever home for a second chance at the life they deserve.
We want to see Section One of the Dangerous Dog Act scrapped, or at the very least amended, so banned breeds and types who come in to our care and have not harmed anyone can be rehomed.
