I can't push the importance of having training dogs enough.

These two run all of my packs with me, my obedience sessions, help me work on other dog's impulse control, they help motivate, correct and encourage the dogs I work with each day. The job wouldn"t be the same without them. A trainer without training dogs is a professor without a chalkboard. Sure, you can try and explain things, and teach some helpful points the client may remember, maybe do some flashy demonstrations between you and the dog, but you'll never, never be able to show the full picture of what a happy balanced dog needs like a trainer with training dogs can.

Socialization > Everything.

Remember the animal you have in your home has much different needs than you and make sure your trainer can fulfill all those needs, not just the ones that look cool in front of your friends. If you're lucky enough to have a trainer that utilizes training dogs then give those paws their due credit.

Welcome to what true canine socialization looks like. "But he's not playing with every dog!" "Why's my dog on his own?" "My dog looks bored..."

Listen, do you walk into a bar and make out with every human being in there? No. You don't. That would be the equivalent of your dog running full boar into a social group and demanding play from every dog. It's annoying and uncalled for. THIS is socialization. You sitting at the bar ordering a drink and tipping the bartender is socialization. You don't need over stimulated play and rambunctious behavior every tick of the clock. Give your dogs space, teach them respect, and they will play together, graze together, and rest together in a balanced and controlled harmony. Stop looking at dogs as endless providers of fun and entertainment and give them the same boundaries you give yourself.

Ba-BAM!!! Feat. Druid the romper stopper. This may look like funny nonsense but it's not. Druid is speedbumping Bodhi, a dog who hasn't properly socialized in a while. The zoomies may look cute but when you're a 100lb questionably social dog who's prone to taking things too far YOU NEED TO CHILL. Keeps the energy of the dog under threshold, keeps the pack balanced, and keeps the peace. Trust the enforcer. He knows this business far better than we do. 🤎

STILL ALIVE AND WELL without the help of any other animals but Maya and myself. Countless people hate on this dog, condem her, wish she would just go away, BUT GUESS WHAT not gunna happen while I still have something to say about it.

The amount of people, TRAINERS, albeit that harbor so much resentment and fear for this dog blows my mind. Do you know how much damage you can do to a dog just by being afraid of it? Paramount. If you don't know how to look at Big Z in the face while she's sprinting straight at you and exude nothing but calmness and positive energy get out of the behavioral business and get out of her way.

WHY WORK WITH DOGS IF YOU CAN'T WORK WITH ALL DOGS? Big, little, lapdog, attack dog, fearful dog, doesn't matter. Give them to someone who understands basic canine behavior and they can make this dog out of what she was.

Don't be a hack trainer. Don't be a selective trainer. Don't breed bias big white dogs because you're petrified. Get out of the way, take a seat, and mind your own business.
