W BAR HORSE TRAINING
Riding before I could walk I grew up in deep east Texas watching my father and brothers ride, break and train horses. As I grew older I became more involved in the process and began to find my own passion and path in this life of connecting horse to rider. I began training on my own in spring of 99’ to help pay my way through college. I quickly realized

that one day this was to be my life. It was not to come as I planned. In fall of 2001 on a September morning my world along with so many others changed and I joined the Army to fight the Global war on Terror. I sold my horse and my gear and moved my family to TN where I was stationed at Fort Campbell. Even in the Army I always found myself drifting back to the horse and a passion I couldn’t contain. In 2016 I was given the honor to command the 1st Cavalry Division, Horse Cavalry Detachment. There I met two true horsemen that influence my training even today. Larry Borth, retired Civilian Stable Master and Mr. Donnie Davis the current Civilian Stable Master taught me much and reignited the passion to connect rider to horse. Since then I have continued to study and learn as much as I can from the greats such as; Chris Cox, Monty Roberts, Mark Rashid and Clinton Anderson. I am a horsemen of many methods and believe all training can be summed in three basic principals.

1. Everything you do with a horse should start with and be built on trust.

2. The intention is not to get where to are "able" to but get to where you are "allowed" to.

3. No two horse are the same and should never be approached as such. Training these amazing creatures is my passion and there truly is not much to it. Move slow, talk soft and know when to say enough is enough. Nothing fancy and it isn't hard.

This weekend was a good weekend for horse work. Gilbert and I got a chance to spend our first time together since our last encounter. He did very well just a bit lazy it has been a while and he was enjoying the down time.

Tesla is doing so well this was her second ride with me and she was great. I am really enjoying this little filly.

This was a good night for Lady.

She moves great to the right hangs on the gate a little but not bad at all I was super happy with her.

This is a clip of the rider getting on Tony for the fourth time this evening. He did so well and I am so proud of this mustang.
