Welcome to Bramandin Belgian Tervurens. When we began some 6 years ago, we were looking for a better farm dog. We wanted the type of herder like the farmers of old. The kind of dog who had the instinct to herd and the stability to be safe with the livestock when off the job. A dog who could be protective of farm and property, good with children and without the obsessive, unrelenting herding drive
like many modern day herding breeds. The Belgian Tervuren having remained little known, has also remained relatively unchanged from the stable, family farm dog who moved stock when necessary, patrolled the property when off duty and stuck by his master’s side as he went about his daily routine.
“Jadis of Bramandin” became our first Belgian in 2013. She has been amazing. She is protective and safe when it comes to newly hatched chickens and goslings. She has no such affection when it comes to the multitude of predators which live in the woods surrounding our home. She diligently will sound the alarm and race to the fence line when a threat presents itself. Her herding demeanor is quiet, yet persistent. She will notice and effectively remove a stray bird from a neighboring farm but without escalating to the point of panicking the bird or causing it harm. She quietly insists that they leave. We have waited these last 4 years to acquire “Aslan” as our potential stud for our future breeding program. With his background and breeding we have no doubt he will be everything we hope for and will one day be the stoic, protective animal his name implies. One who will move to keep the animals together when needed but be quiet and watchful when not working. Join us as we embark on our journey of keeping the original stability of the herding dog alive. We know that farmers of old did not breed dogs who could not be trusted. They depended on them for natural herding ability and yet the gentleness to lay in the barn with newborn lambs and calves. Too often, modern farmers find themselves trying to run their farm with high strung dogs from agility or fly ball type lines, dogs who must be caged when not working lest the run the stock to death. It is our mission to breed a quality dog, with the natural drive to herd, the ability to live with the stock and the protective nature to oversee the family farm.
