It's finally happening - Snowfall is having her puppies! We're expecting a very small litter, but she's ecstatic! As a momma who's had a litter before, she's totally prepared and knows exactly what to expect! Her whelping den is all cozy and ready for the new arrivals! Fingers crossed those puppies will make their debut this afternoon, or we'll be up all night waiting! We're absolutely head over heels in love with her - she's the sweetest, most laid-back momma in the world! 🐾🐾🐾🐾🎁🎄❤️
We are excited to share a sneak peek at our hungry hungry hippos!!! The babies are becoming increasingly vocal, using different calls to communicate their needs. As a result, they kept me up most of the night, having learned that their cries prompt a swift response.❤️🐾🎁🎄

And in the end, we have the fantastic four! Two boys and two girls! Gorgeous big babies!
There was a “paws”, in labor. But I thought to be safe we checked in with a local ER. I can say it’s very difficult to find a vet especially skilled in reproduction. As breeders we rely on our own intuition and experience with each litter life and death situation.
We handle these situations on our own, and try to make the best calls or call on other breeders for their expertise. Unfortunately often Vets are inexperienced in this field and the overwhelmed veterinary system has not gotten back to the excellence that it once was before Covid.
But I’m grateful for my four fantastic babies! I’m glad that I listened to my own gut that ended up saving two puppies today against an “expert opinion” that I knew in my gut was wrong.

Ice Bear 1st puppy! Girl
Our long awaited first baby Winter White’s Ice Bear first litter!! This gorgeous huge girl persevered through three days of labor and two hours of pushing! He head was so big, we had to go in and get her!! But She’s a shining star, as big as our big boys and strong as an ox, already nursing!
