💜 SPECIAL HOME NEEDED FOR TEDDY, the disabled Guinea Pig - please share 💜

Albino animals, especially guinea pigs and rabbits often get overlooked because people don’t think they’re attractive, which boggles our collective minds, as we think Teddy is a very handsome chap!

Teddy is looking for a calm, adult only home where he can be spoilt rotten.

He injured his back in his original home and this has led to weakness in his back legs and he sometimes can be a bit stiff moving about.

Teddy enjoys being handled and eating lots of fresh, veggie treats along with a good quality hay.

He would be best suited to living indoors because of his disability. A single level C&C enclosure would be ideal for him.

Sad news here at Carrot and Biscuit Pet services. Lovely Lucky has sadly crossed the rainbow bridge. We all know I’m especially partial to a ginger 🧡 he had the most lovely little face with the look he was smiling ☺️ I always remember the first time I met him, his mummy said he was shy and then he came sat on my lap 🐈 🤗 He was very good at telling me to hurry up with his dinner to 😂 Thanks for all the loves and fun times little man. Be free with Sooty now over the rainbow bridge 🌈 🐈‍⬛ 🐈

I didn’t see any hedgies around for a while in my garden but now they are back! Visits the same time every night! Even if you cant put out any food for then please leave a shallow bowl of water out for them. It’s so hot and they need our help! I placed some copper tape around food bowls which keeps the slugs out 🙌🏻

Their shortened airways can lead to breathing difficulties, making them more susceptible to respiratory infections.

Brachycephalic rabbits often have misaligned teeth due to their jaw structure, which can cause dental disease, pain, and difficulty eating.

Their prominent eyes may be more prone to injuries, blocked tear ducts, and conditions like conjunctivitis due to insufficient protection from the surrounding structures.

These rabbits can struggle with heat regulation, making them more vulnerable to heat stroke.

Always choose health over looks 🐇

So as well as the gorgeous piggys Cookie and Marshmallow I shared yesterday, there was also the lovely Bambi and Willow to take care of and the fishys! Both willow and Bambi kept me on my toes! Willow came back on my second visit with a bite and Bambi decided to have a holiday of her own for two days 😅 🤦🏼‍♀️ 🐈‍⬛ 🐅 🐠 🐟

FYI those seeking care for their pets this summer

☀️ ✈️ The summer holidays are on their way so here’s a few answers to questions I get asked most often around this time of year in particular -
🐕 I don’t board dogs. You need a license to board dogs so please do look for this when choosing somewhere for your dog to stay. Their insurance will be invalid without one. Places I personally recommend are Hendrix Teal Dog Boarding and https://www.house-of-barks.co.uk/
🐰 🐹 🐈 Small pet pop ins I will require to visit your pets AT LEAST once EVERY DAY whilst you are away to ensure your pets are safe and well.
🐕 🧳 🐶 I do not provide pop in visits for dogs that are left unattended over night whilst owners are on holiday
🏡 Areas I cover mainly are Hethersett , parts of Wymondham and Little Melton
☀️ 🏝️ Please book in asap to avoid disappointment, if I don’t have availability there may be other sitters I can recommend
🐶🐱 🐢 🐭🐹🐰🐷 I’m happy to provide pop ins and care for any type of pet. I have years of experience with rabbits and guinea pigs in particular

Cupcake is doing amazing at Piggybanksanctuary 🥲 🤗 I’m going to visit her soon and take her and allllll her friends some treats 🥰

Hi im cupcake 2, im 3 years old and a sow. I'm new here, I've only been here just over a week, and boy do I love it. I came to the sanctuary as I'd lost my previous cagemate, doughnuts. My previous mummy loved me very, very much and I was very spoilt. I will be forever grateful she put my needs before hers, and knew I needed the company of other piggies. I know it was a very hard and upsetting decision for her to make, but im so happy to have other furry friends. Well, my new mummy says she's surprised at how quickly over settled, I'm here there and everywhere. I've explored all shelves and ground floor areas, I even made it outside on my 2nd day here, I was so brave. I've made lots of friends and have already learnt the sound of the bucket shaking, and I love the bucket man, ive even given his fingers a little love nibble. Mummy says I'm fast becoming a top pig in the hierarchy, I'm brave enough to handfeed already. Life is good here and I know I'll always have friends for my whole life now 💜

So, I've finally got round to watching the keepers of the pigs on Netflix. I'm not going to go into it too much detail as there are in my opinion a lot of rights, but also a lot of wrongs, I didn't particularly enjoy seeing so many piggies in such tiny enclosures. However one thing is for certain, guinea pigs are one of the most abused pets, just today we have had 17 messages asking us to take guinea pigs in. Now we are totally self funded, we dont rehome or breed, so there is no rehoming fee or breeding money coming in. We can only support so many, and we have to keep within our means. Our day starts at 7am and finishes at 1am. We often go without. to see that our piggies don't. We are unable to have family holidays, as we cannot afford the DBS checks, and liability insurance to get people in to help. That being said, it's what we want to do, and what makes us happy. But the life of a sanctuary is never easy. Desperate not to be a beg sanctuary, we run ads on videos, subscribers group and have the creator reward fund on tiktok. But these only provide so much, our savings for vet bills are now depleted. I think the programme gives a good insight into what rescues and sanctuaries are currently facing, and the huge difficulties and financial pressures.
In my opinion it's well worth a watch
