Meet Chief! Chief is a 13 month Golden Doodle that was pulling pretty hard during walks, was noticeably anxious in public, reactive to other dogs out of fear, and had a little stranger danger going on. This is Chief’s very first private session, passing two dogs that were ~20 ft away, barking at him from the edge of their yard. With no reaction!
I cannot stress enough, whether you want to do advanced work with your dog or or not, keeping a dog in a heel position on-leash is imperative, it’s not just for aesthetics. You want your dog to view you as a leader, eliminating any guess work he/she is having to do if walking even a foot in front of you with another person or dog about to pass. We’re not stopping and pulling our dog off to the side to put into a sit-stay while other dogs pass. And we’re not trying to distract the dog with treats/a toy etc. That is called avoidance.
We want to work with our dog and get them to overcome that fear while also not putting your dog or other dogs at risk. Avoidance is NOT the answer. If you have a child that’s afraid of the dark, you’re not telling little Johnny Rocket, “it’s ok, we will just keep the lights on overnight and make sure you’re inside before it gets dark…until the end of time.” The same goes for dogs. Whatever the fear might be, there’s more than likely a way to work through it if you find the right trainer in your area. Even thunderstorms/fireworks believe it or not. If you need assistance don’t hesitate to reach out at (630) 220-2583 or send me a message on here. If you’re not local, I can help you via remote sessions (depending on the issue at hand and the severity), or I can find a knowledgable balanced trainer in your area. Happy training!
Ragnar’s newfound confidence 🧡
Tank, a dog I recently rehabbed after being deemed “dangerous” by local animal control, paid me a visit for a few days when mom and dad had to go out of town. The training stuck and he’s now living his best life. No longer is he a danger to the public. This makes it all worth it.
It’s the little things in life. Milo having a blast during his first day of training 🐾

TGIF! “T” is progressing quite nicely. Muzzle off, limbs still fully in tact. It’s going to be a good day 😍
5 Month Old Rescue - Loose Leash Heel/Auto Sit
One of the most fulfilling parts of being a dog trainer is seeing that progression…from that little out of control pup driving his owner crazy to this…loose leash heeling and pulling off that picture perfect auto sit at just 5 months old. So proud of this little guy!

GSD Pup - “Middle/Center” First Try
GSD puppy’s first time attempting middle/center. Sloppy, but quickly learning how to use that back end. Not a bad pivot for her first try 👍🐾
