Time to bring Slothful Sunny Day to a close. Okay, I was semi ambitious. I got last night laundry put up and I cleaned up the massive pile of barf that Ivy left in the approach to the kitchen.

Our Carefree Catruday is over too. Food Lady has topped up our kibble bowls, all she needs to do now is retrieve Squeaks off the balcony. He sulks when she does this but she doesn't trust him to do a runner despite the fact it's barricaded. The rest of spent the day being Sofa Sloths in the a/c. May Bast keep watch over all. Nitey nite! Happy Saturday to all my furriends! we are so happy that Mommy is home from her trip, and we have had a great day celebrating together! She came home really late last night (don’t worry, we were all awake waiting for her), and we were all happy to head off to Kitty bedtime. Our sitter took really great care of us while she was gone, but we’re glad to get back to our routine - and our nightly posts! Patch was happy, too, in his crazy dog way and since it was so late, we didn’t want him to be barking and waking up the neighborhood. MOL Anyway, we did sleep pretty late this morning, so we will be heading off to bed soon, right after our nightly treats, and tonight’s beautiful art to share. wishing all my furriends sweet dreams and I will see you in the morning! Armand Jean du Plessis de Richelieu (1585-1642)—cardinal, statesman, power behind the throne, and scene-stealing villain of The Three Musketeers—was such a devotee of the cat that he contributed significantly to their adoption as companion animals in fashionable French society. Richelieu had a cattery built at his residence the Palais-Cardinal (later the Palais-Royal) to house his many cats, mostly Persians and Angoras, and was said to always have a cat on his lap as he worked.

He was also a world-class adept at naming his cats. Among the 14 cats Richelieu had at the time of his death in 1642 were Ludovic le Cruel, named for his savage dedication to killing rats; Ludoviska, who according to some sources was Ludovic's girlfriend and was Polish; Perruque (French for wig), so named because as a kitten she'd fallen out of the wig of poet Honorat de Bueil at Richelieu's feet; Rubis sur l'Ongle, the French idiom for "cash on the nail"; Gazette, because she was "indiscreet"; the cardinal's favorite Soumise (submissive); plus Pyrame and Thisbe, named after the lovers in Ovid's Metamorphoses because they slept together holding paws.

This is Hope. I bought a new pair of deck shoes and for some reason she likes to sleep in them. We hope everyone had a Fabulous Friday, we did. I was ambitious and made a batch of lemon bars. I cheated they weren't entirely from scratch. I used Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix as the base. Hope, Ivy and Violet have had their bed time snacks, getting ready to retrieve Squeaks from the balcony so he can have his.
