pent the last 17 years serving the areas four legged "children" and their humans. My adventures in this vast and exciting animal care field are quite diverse and will help to ensure that all of my clients get the all inclusive care that they deserve. I have spent most of those 17 years working as a veterinary technician at some of the most respected veterinary hospitals in Orlando. Including several years at The Veterinary Acupuncture Clinic. My extensive experience in animal medicine led me into teaching veterinary assistants at a local college for over 4 years. I am perfectly comfortable and experienced in the administration of medications, inulin and SQ fluids. I am also Animal CPR and First-aid Certified. In addition to my medical experience I have worked with some of the best animal trainers in the area. Including working at Sea World’s “Pets-ahoy” show training animals such as dogs, cats, pigs, rats, skunks and birds. My passion has always been in behavior. Which led me to earn my Bachelors Degree in Psychology at Rollins College, with a focus on animal behavior and the human-animal bond. I am very excited about embarking into this new stage of my life. Although I have been pet sitting and offering obedience training courses throughout my entire career, I am now ready do it exclusively to ensure I have the time to give each of my clients that they deserve. Why am I focusing my full attention on in home services for your children, you ask? Well during my adventures working at local animal hospitals, I had the opportunity to manage a few different boarding kennels. Even though these were very well run kennels I saw first hand how much animals suffer durning their stay. High levels of stress and disease are impossible to avoid when you shove 40-100 animals into small cages stacked on top of each other. Most kennels take each dog out for 10 minutes of "outside" time two times a day. The rest of the day they stay in their cage with a thin towel and bowl of water (which they often knock over). There is no way for them to tell the staff that they are scared and feel abandoned. And if they do try to express it, their cage card is often labeled with a large X to let the other staff members know that this is an aggressive animal and often times will be left in that cage for the rest of their stay. They will be forced to relieve themselves in their cage instead of being let out for their 10 minutes of outside time. I know, its sad but its true! Most dogs will do everything that they can to "hold it" until they get let out. This creates all kinds of medical issues, such as UTI's or intestinal upset. If this does happen guess who will be responsible for the veterinary care they now have to receive? Well that is if the staff taking care of your "child" are trained enough to even notice the symptoms. Regardless of how hard they try the cut down on the spread of parasites or infectious disease they are impossible to completely control or aviod when you put that many animals into one small place. When a kennel is full, a facility will try to cram as many animal in as they can. This often times means putting small yappy dogs into the catroom cages. I can not think of anything more stressful for a cat then being placed in a cage under a unfamiliar yappy dog. These are just a few of the reasons that I started offering my pet sitting services over 17 years ago. I take what I do very seriously and strive to provide each of my clients the best most reliable care for their "children" possible.
