🌸 Meet Doris 🌸
On November 14, we welcomed Doris into our care. Although she appears healthy at first glance, it was essential to bring her off the streets. Doris has TVT (transmissible venereal tumors), a condition commonly seen in unsterilized street dogs. Fortunately, when diagnosed early, TVT is highly treatable.
Doris weighs approximately 28lbs and has an incredibly sweet and affectionate temperament.
She had been spending time at a plaza in La Mision, where a group of kind community members ensured she had food and water. Their care kept her looking well, but once they noticed the signs of TVT, they reached out to us for help.
She has now completed two rounds of chemotherapy, and we’re relieved to share that her tumor has already stopped bleeding. Her third treatment is scheduled for this week. Although she is improving, she must remain kenneled and separated from other dogs until she is no longer contagious. It’s difficult to see her longing to join the activity around her, but her comfort and safety remain our priority. Soon, sweet Doris; just a little longer.
Doris will be available for adoption once she is free of cancer cells and has completed her full veterinary care protocols.
