💛JUNE💛
3 years old, TVT(transmissible venereal tumors), erlichea, anemia, malnourished, distemper survivor
Friday, one of our volunteers, Samara, spotted this female on the north side of Bucerias, in the Los Picos area. It was pretty clear she needed our help ASAP. She was very frightened but was hungry. She found safety under a trailer so food and water were left for her.
Karen then went to also try and gain her trust. Slowly she did until a man scared her off. A few hours later she went back and walked for an hour only to find her in another location. Again, trying to gain her trust, but not being successful. A construction worker threw a bottle at her, hitting her, so she was terrified 😡
We posted her to some local Facebook groups Friday asking for anyone to contact us if she was spotted. Both ladies went back Saturday with no luck of seeing her in the area.
Thankfully on Sunday morning, someone did see her, in a park in the Terralta 1 development. That means she somehow crossed the busy 200 highway and managed to not be hit!!
Karen rushed over and with the help of another couple she was cornered and grabbed! We’re so lucky 3 sides of the park were enclosed so she couldn’t run off again.
June is now safe at our shelter. She saw our vet first for blood and distemper tests. She’s getting antibiotic injections for 3 days and will be starting her chemo yet this week. We’d expect she will need at least 6 treatments, likely more.
We did not initially realize she was a distemper survivor until she was laying down and relaxed. While petting her, we saw the tick (muscle twitching) on her front left leg. This poor babe has had a rough life. She does not exhibit any twitching when doing anything else, only when fully relaxed and sleeping.
We’re so appreciative someone saw our post and reached out when they noticed her. We can already tell she’s a wonderful dog. Her little nubby tail is even wagging for us now!
