We have cared for rescue hens since 2017, and have volunteered with the British Welfare Trust since 2018 🐔

We have great experience of hen husbandry and are certified in Chicken Behaviour & Welfare 🐔

We can recognise when hens become egg bound, showing symptoms of egg yolk peritonitis (EYP), sour crop, bumblefoot, heatstroke to name a few 🐔

We have nursed a hen with a spinal injury back to health, and helped her to walk again with lots of physiotherapy 🐔

We’d love to look after your flock whilst you are away ☀️ 🏖️

Since Pickle & Co began in 2018 we began supporting the following local Essex charities ;

Remus Horse Sanctuary 🐴 based in Ingatestone. Founded in 1983, they have over 200 rescued animals including horses, donkeys, ponies, sheep, goats, cows and cats and offer them lifetime care.

The 2nd charity we support is Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary🐷 based in Ashelham. Founded in 1993, they care for over 500 rescued animals including ex racing horses, abused farm animals ; pigs, cows, chickens, turkeys, sheep, ex fighting dogs.

We’ve visited both numerous times and met with the owners who dedicate their lives to the animals they care for. Every penny donated goes straight back into the mouths of the animals. God knows what would have happened if these amazing sanctuaries wouldn’t have opened their doors to these animals. You can imagine the staggering costs it takes to run places like these on this scale, so every penny helps.
