There is no such thing as unadoptable! Lennie was born May 19, 2012 to mama Layla, a rescue from the Tipton County Animal Shelter in Tennessee. Layla gave birth to her babies as she was being transported to her new home at the House of Mews in Memphis, Tennessee. Lennie had two brothers and two sisters. At 10 days old, Lennie and his brother Louie developed a serious URI and came to live with fost
er mama Abby. Unfortunately, the URI became pneumonia and brother Louie did not survive, but Lennie was and is a fighter. Despite being given a 10% chance at survival, survive he did! As Lennie grew, we discovered that he was polydactyl with a total of 22 toes instead of the usual 18. At 5 weeks old, Lennie was again diagnosed with pneumonia and his foster mama was told that he would not survive, but once again Lennie beat the odds! When Lennie was about 3 months old, he was diagnosed with severe sternal excavatum. The rib cage deformity was so pronounced, the doctor was astounded that Lennie had lived as long as he had. Lennie's lungs, heart, liver, and stomach were all compromised. Again, we were told that Lennie would likely die before the age of 6 months. Lennie is now 11 months old and looking forward to many more years to come! With all of his issues, Lennie is every inch the kitten! He loves to run and play and aggravated the senior kitties living with his foster mom. While he must stop and rest frequently and struggles with constant nasal congestion due to deformed nasal passages, he knows no fear, no strangers, and no limitation! Lennie is truly a miracle!
