About Cosmo’s Heart...
“Cosmo’s Heart” is TRI’s animal rights and rescue project. Through this project, TRI partners with rescues in the Pacific Northwest, the Midwest and Canada to find loving forever homes for dogs at Moreno Valley Shelter who are out of time. The inspiration for this project, Cosmo, was a mini long-haired dachshund found wandering alone, skinny, straggly and scared in Galisteo, NM. Like so many rescue dogs, Cosmo rescued TRI’s Director, Amber Gray, as he entered her life at a very painful time. His fierce, unconditional love; endless trust and soft, cuddly loyalty earned him the title “The Gandhi of Canines” amongst almost everyone who his tender paws and open heart touched. TRI is a humanitarian 501(c)(3), established in 2010, to provide training and consultation to organizations serving survivors of human rights abuses in low resource countries and contexts. In 2018, TRI expanded its mission to include animal rights. Amber Gray, TRI’s Founder and Director, is a Human Rights Psychotherapist, an award winning Dance Movement Therapist, and a Somatic Psychotherapist whose clinical and humanitarian response work has focused on survivors of war, torture and human rights abuses for over 20 years. She has achieved international recognition for her work, and travels the world teaching, speaking and supporting programs in complex humanitarian emergencies to develop staff support programs for front lines humanitarian workers. A humanitarian who loves all things wild, her passion is bringing animals and humans together to comfort, love and heal.
