I have one last pair of 2024 hatch blue butterscotch looking for a new pond. The hen is out of 2 blue butterscotch parents but she is definitely minimally marked.

UPDATE on post office fiasco.
Last Monday I shipped some birds--Tuesday morning the PO called me and said the birds were sent back--come pick them up!
Today I went to the PO where they did issue a refund. (I will use it to re-send the birds)
He said that the higher ups he contacted really couldn't explain why it didn't show up in the system at my PO and there was no guarantee this couldn't happen again.
Apparently when Fed Ex has an issue with somewhere--it does not get put into the general PO system so local post offices are clueless. So unfortunately this can happen again. We still do not know why they wouldn't ship them. We assume there was weather in-between here and there somewhere but will never know. 🤷‍♀️

Another cold day today but warmer temperatures are coming!
Nene's only hatched one this year. Going to be a very spoiled gosling 🤣
They are enjoying a panful of finally chopped collard greens and Mazuri waterfowl starter.

Another trip to the post office today to send off a couple of boxes... No updates yet on the returned birds. He said it might take a couple days but I will definitely keep you posted

So today was another first! I shipped two boxes of birds on Monday to a friend who had received birds from somebody else just last week.
7:00 this morning my post office calls me and says they returned the birds. What?? They were told that zip code is not receiving live birds.
Luckily the recipient is a friend of mine and she called her post office and they said they had no idea why they were told that.
Meanwhile I raced over and picked up the birds and they are safe and sound.
Neither my post office or hers have ever experienced this before so we will get to the bottom of it and report back!

You just never know what's going to happen at the post office in small towns.
This local sheep farmer (Black Locust Katahdins) brought this baby in to show one of the clerks who unfortunately wasn't there today. He had to go back out to the car to get the boxes that he was mailing and asked if I would hold the lamb. Oh you know I did!!!
Do you think I could convince my husband I got another dog 🤣

So the USPS postmaster is going to resign.
This may bring up the age old debate about whether or not to privatize the US postal system. Since this is the ONLY way we can ship live birds it will impact us all.
I talked to my UPS driver once and although they ship bees and snakes they want no part of live birds.
This is an issue we will want to keep a close watch on.
What do you think?

Hey guys....I generally don't post personal stuff here but hopefully someone can help
The CA wildfires have triggered a flood of pets being turned into the shelters there. Most are high kill shelters.
The rescue that I volunteer with is trying to help out and has taken approx 14 little dogs from CA over the last 2 weeks. They are in desperate need of bellybands as most of these little guys are unneutered males. I picked up one to foster yesterday and thankfully I had one already because they are completely out!

Day #2 of cold, windy, raining. This kind of weather makes every joint in my body hurt! I think it would almost feel warmer if it were snowing lol
But chores have to continue in the rain. The ducks sure don't seem to mind The turkeys not a fan 🤣
