I often receive "thank you's" from clients but this one particularly touched my heart! When the client originally called me 4 weeks ago she was sad and worried about her puppy's behavior towards her daughter. At the time she was devastated at the thought that they would not be able to keep their 3 month old Bernese Mountain Dog puppy! She decided to enroll her puppy into my "puppy board, socialize and train program". She is so eternally grateful for the turn around with her puppy's behavior so much so that there is now NO thought of rehoming him and now allowing them to keep the pup afterall .... YIPEEEEEE. As a result their daughter is so overjoyed she baked me a Keylime Pie from scratch and wrote me a lovely thank you note! Very very heartfelt...

I need your help again :-). We need to find a home for Ernie a 3 year old Golden Retriever. Ernie is owned by an elderly lady (70 years old) she has had this dog since he was a puppy but she no longer has any patience for him!!!! We are desperate to find him a home.. This is what I know.. He is a 3 year old (male / neutered) Located in the Silver Spring MD area. Ernie is great with people but he is not socialized with other dogs. He has ONE dog friend but is reactive to dogs in general. He would benefit from an owner who can provide him with structured training, and plenty of opportunity to run off his energy. Owning a puppy is suppose to be fun.. However when you do not allow your puppy to learn to be "alone" even when you are home.. separation anxiety ensues pretty quickly. My client purchased his pup x2 weeks ago. Since bringing home their 11 week old puppy, the famliy have never left him alone ever! what does that mean? well it means this... the puppy sits by "dads" feet all day in his office, when dad or mom have to leave the home then the nanny takes over and she inturn keeps him close by her! at night he is curled up with the famil in their bedroom... As a result the family have now created a puppy that is unable to function alone unless someone is sitting next to him in the same room. This is how separation anxiety begins.. Part of my puppy training program is teaching the puppy how to learn to enjoy his or her crate and be alone even though people are home then progressing to being left completely alone.
