Had dental surgery a couple days ago.

Mama keeps giggling at my arm saying it looks like a poodle arm or like I'm wearing Mickey Mouse gloves.

Rude.

But my surgery went well and I'm recovering very smoothly so despite her rudeness I will count my blessings.

I want to start by saying I'm okay and doing much better now!

But about a week ago my family had to rush me to the emergency vet because I wasn't feeling very good. I was lethargic, hadn't eaten in about a day, just wanted to sleep and didn't want to get up much, and I developed a low grade fever.

Mom said she's never had to take any of us to the emergency place and she was soooo worried about me she cried a lot. She said I'm the best cat in the world and nothing can ever happen to me short of old age and even that she'll try to fight off. 😤

When we got there and they took me in back for observation and I did get blood work done and a very invasive p*e test and urinary ultrasound because they were worried I might be blocked. But thankfully I wasn't!

Blood work looked great, no signs of kidney issues, and they said I was a little dehydrated understandably. They did note a very mild UTI but the vet felt like that wasn't enough to have caused all the rest of my symptoms. The vet was a little confused because I started to perk up before they even really did anything. But mom knows that's likely just because of adrenaline and the fact I just love people sooooo much. When they brought me back to the room with my family I played musical laps and made sure to give everyone attention.

Anywayyyy. They gave my parents antibiotics, an anti inflammatory/anti nausea med, an appetite stimulant, and a big bag of fluids for them to give me at home through a needle (mom knows how from when she had her kidney cat Salem).

I was still really weak and wobbly and needing assistance for a few days after. But I did great with the fluids and a week later I am feeling muuuuuch better. I'm feeling good enough to knock toys off the shelf again and get in the way when mom's trying to build furniture. I'm also cuddling again which I didn't really feel like doing when I was sick. 😔

We don't know if there's anything else going on but mom and dad want to look into doing a dental pretty soon and maybe checking out my throat in the process because they say I sound a little different (froggy) lately but the vet couldn't really see anything. It might be a little bit until we find out more.

Please send all the prayers and positive vibes. My parents are still reeling from the emergency vet bill but sooooo glad I'm still here and didn't need to be hospitalized. Me too! I still have LOTS to do!

Happy New Year and Happy Birthday to me!

I took an evening nap but made sure to wake up in time to crash the humans' party as the giant glowy cat toy descended upon New York City. It's an annual tradition that I want to keep - always sniffing the cheese crackers but never eating them as the humans smush faces and clink their glasses containing small amounts of grape juice or the blood of their enemies or whatever.

Let's all agree that no matter WHAT happens in 2024, we will do our best and make the most of it.
