Same goes for chicks and ducklings!

‼️Please share‼️

🐰This happens way to often this time of year. Side note: Rabbits are extremely expensive to get fixed and it’s difficult to tell if they are male or female. So two rabbits quickly turn into many more.

Colony Cat Care Takers in Fayette County, WV, check this out!

Spaying/neutering feral cats prevents future homeless cats AND reduces fighting (and the noise!) among ferals.

Returning those feral cats to their original location can also prevent new, unaltered cats from moving in to the territory, which also helps reduce the spread of disease!

Stabilizing and caring for a colony is an important step toward creating and/or maintaining a No Kill shelter in your county.

Do you have feral cats hanging around your house or neighborhood? We are bringing our annual Cat Colony Program back!!!

Fayette Veterinary Hospital is teaming up with the New River Humane Society to help with cat overpopulation. From March 4th - March 8th, we will be doing a Cat Colony Sterilization Program every day, throughout the week. This spay/neuter program is for stray/feral cats ONLY. The program is not designed for your pet.

We know that spaying and neutering feral cats can drastically reduce the number of unwanted cats in the community, reduce disease transmission, and improve the cat's lives.

You do not have to live in Fayette County to participate in the program as long as you can be financially responsible for the feral cats that you bring in. The cost is $40 for a male and $60 for a female. This does also include a 1 year Rabies Vaccine that the cat will receive.

We accept approximately 15 cats on each of these days that will be first come, first served. Individuals utilizing this program will be responsible the cost, for trapping or retrieving community feral/stray cats, transporting them to and from our clinic and releasing them in the same area he/she was captured. All cats MUST BE in traps or carriers.

A scheduled appointment for this program is not required. We do ask that you drop them off before 10am the week of March 4th - 8th. If you are interested in this program and would like more information, contact us at (304) 574-4VET.

There may come a day when we stop sharing his infographic, but it is not this day.

Having the ability to perform species-specific behaviors (a.k.a. do dog things) can help fill your dog's emotional cup and lead to a happier, more fulfilled life for both you and them. Behaviors like chewing, digging, barking, and sniffing may sometimes be annoying or seem like nuisance behaviors, but they are completely NORMAL dog behaviors. Having the proper outlets to perform these behaviors, in addition to having good food, adequate medical care, and a safe place to rest, can greatly improve your dog's emotional well-being.

How do you fill your dog's cup? Do you take long sniffy walks? Do you give them fun things to chew on? Do you let them dig up your garden? What do they enjoy?

If you have room to spare at your home but aren't ready to adopt, please consider fostering an animal. Not only does this make room at the shelter, it can also make a world of difference for the animal that comes to your home--they escape the noisy, scary shelter and get to experience love and a comfy home, some for the first time ever!

Their former momma loved them very much, and they took care of her too. She was deaf, and the kitties would come get her when someone was at the door or if the phone rang.

Vet Techs are hard workers and often underpaid for the work they do. They give so much love to our pets, but often suffer from burnout, just like veterinarians.

Give them some extra love and never forget to appreciate them!

A parvo-like illness is killing dogs in Michigan.

Please make sure your dogs and puppies are vaccinated, especially for parvo.

The illness has only been detected in Michigan so far, and keeping your pets up to date on their vaccines is the best way to keep it that way!
