Ember
This has been about the most stressful weeks for me. Poor Ember girl has been sick since Sunday. She had a bowel obstruction so she got 3/4 a bottle of laxative, then 2 enemas to get cleaned out but wasn’t acting right. Blood work today revealed a positive test for ehrlichia which is a tick borne disease. Stupid me didn’t keep her up on her flea/tick. We strongly recommend everyone keep up on flea/tick and heartworm to avoid crap like this. Hopefully a few days of antibiotics and we’ll be back to normal.
Rebel
I’m not know much as a bird dog guy but the more of these dogs I work, the more fun I’m having. We were able to complete obedience and force fetch with her in 2 months. This was her first hunt on purely her natural ability. She’s gonna be a good one. Thanks Chris Greathouse Cassie Greathouse for the opportunity. Good luck this season
Delta
Little Delta has come to finish out the training season with us. She was started by Alan Jackson and he did a great job with her. We’re just continuing where he left off. She’s a great marker!
Deets
Here’s a video of Deets. He’s getting much better. Steven Schandl
Grace
Here’s a short video of Grace. For only about 5 months old she’s looking really good with her obedience.
Rebel
Rebel is starting to figure things out.
Remi
One thing I really like to do with dogs before they leave besides work off stands and throw more birds is to tune up obedience and help build memory with these simple yard drills. Remi is looking pretty good! Hayden Emery
Remi is starting to wrap up her time here! We’re finishing up force fetch and beginning more steadiness training with real life scenarios. She’s gonna be good dog. Hayden Emery
Lou
Lou is here to get some basic training under control prior to his NAVHDA test. Working on tracking here. I drug a duck into that patch of tall grass. T.D. Lambert
Grace
Here’s an uninterrupted 3 minute video of a training session with Grace. We’ve taught all the commands separately and are beginning to put them all together in a combined session. We are also starting to treat less expecting compliance longer and longer prior to a reward. No one wants a dog that only works for food. We also have a period here where a young dog gets distracted and we are working on regaining focus. We don’t normally do visits to houses but this is a special case. Grace is a support dog for a retired veteran so of course we are going to make accommodations to help them out.

Apparently it’s national mutt day… so here’s my $50 half lab/golden HRCH Spring Hill’s Just a Mutt “Dax.” Couldn’t ask for a more frustrating, forgiving, bull-headed, independent, loving, duck-getter! He’s almost 8 now and man the time sure flies. We’ve had some good experiences together and some rough ones but that’s what keeps it interesting and makes it fun. He’s the best dog a guy could ask for.
