In face of the global climate emergency, painting a courageous picture of the *future of farming and food security* — Farmer Ramhari Kadam's journey from distressing, exploitative, chemical based farming to an *ethical, holistic, climate resilient farming model*, has been documented through the short film ‘Urvarasa’.

Ramhari is the lead farmer of Jeeva Bhavana's *URVARASA Project* that facilitates the transition for Indian farmers to *environmentally and financially sustainable agricultural practices* and is based on the *Natural Farming Model* recognised by the UN as one of the most effective farming practices to mitigate effects of climate change.

We are pleased to invite you to share in Ramhari's experiences through the screening of Urvarasa film on *Saturday, October 1st* at *Indradanushya* Environment and Citizenship Centre, Rajendra Nagar, Pune from *10.30 am* onwards.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Team Urvarasa including lead farmer, *Ramhari Kadam* and afforestation expert, *Mr. Raghunath Dhole.*

Tur Dal seed coat has six times more calcium than Milk : ICRISAT

The findings were published by the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in a peer-reviewed journal Sustainability. Currently, the seed coat fraction, which accounts for about 10% of the seed, is a by-product of the split gram (dal) processing industry and it is disposed of either as waste or cattle feed.

The research led by ICRISAT’s genebank has found that just 100 g of pigeonpea seed coat has 652 mg of calcium as against 120 mg in 100 ml of milk. Further research is in progress to evaluate the bioavailability of the nutrients. The human body requires 800-1,000 mg of calcium per day, which reports indicate that the contemporary Indian diet is not providing.

So next time when someone tells you that milk is essential for our calcium needs show them this article.

Plants although living don't have the capacity to feel pain or suffer because they neither have a central nervous system nor a brain, animals on the other hand are capable of experiencing complex emotions like love, happiness, joy, sorrow and PAIN!

Even if you feel plants feel pain then always remember animals that you consume, actually consume more plants inorder to reach the right size so if you care about the animals or care about the plants going vegan is the best way forward

Please Go Vegan and Don't be the reason for someone's death
