Alana first joined Mackle Pet Foods during her placement year of her Food Quality, Safety and Nutrition degree, gaining experience in both the Technical and NPD departments. After graduating , Alana re-joined the company as an NPD Technologist in August 2023.

🎉Feature Fridays: William 🎉

William has been working in our team for 10 years and was our first ever apprentice 9 years ago! William studied Mechanical Engineering Maintenance in South West College and is now a Maintenance Engineer.

“My favourite thing about working at Mackle Pet Foods is the constant evolution within the factory. I also have a good team to work with and strong management to support me.”
In his spare time, William enjoys Motocross and fishing. He also loves travelling and is looking forward to future adventures 🌍✈️

🎓 National Apprenticeship Week 2025 🎓

Jamie is one of our Maintenance Apprentices who is currently studying for a Level 3 Gold Engineering degree at South West College, balancing hands-on experience with academic learning.

Jamie spends one day a week in college and four days on-site, working alongside our skilled maintenance team. In our fast-paced food manufacturing environment, he’s developing essential skills, gaining real-world experience, and building a strong foundation for his future career.

We’re proud to support apprentices like Jamie as they grow into the engineers of tomorrow!

👏Feature Fridays - Gareth Rogers👏

Gareth is our Head of Engineering and has worked with Mackle Petfoods for 8 years.

“I have been involved in lots of exciting engineering and automation projects in the last 8 years. I really enjoy working in a highly automated, fast-paced environment and I work with a fantastic team who are with me every step of the way.”

Outside of work Gareth is a DIY enthusiast and has many projects to work on at home co-ordinated by his wife Judith. He has 3 children and 3 pets - a Miniature Schnauzer named Lizzie, May the Cat and a Giant African Land Snail called Charlie.

To relax, Gareth enjoys fishing, farming and spending time with his family. He is also a keen rugby fan.

Last week, some of our great team members embarked on the Elevate Programme alongside Greg Quinn - The HR Guy and Paul White FCIPD. The journey began with the first module, Leadership in Mackle Pet Foods, where they explored strategies to become even more effective leaders. The session was filled with insightful conversations about leadership and core values.

At Mackle Petfoods, people are our most valuable asset, and we understand the importance of developing our team. We can't wait to see how the team grows and evolves as they complete this programme over the next six months 🐾
