23/24 starting out solid, except for Mother Nature, a hot SOB fosho. Lip and Dutch caught a broke leg deer Saturday morning that had the longest Brows I’d ever seen on a low fence buck. Rip chased a couple ghost deer Saturday but got on a stud this morning and mowed him down at 800yds. 3 generations of dogs and couldn’t be more proud, thank you to the man that let me have the black sheep of the litter. Come on fronts! Get’em

We love and despise this time of year, typically after Thanksgiving things slow to a crawl. Reno and Rip were able to catch/find one this weekend and blessed they did for their hunters. We would like to take a second and thank everyone for trusting in us to find or help find your trophy, no matter what that trophy was to you. May God bless you, your families, and your loved ones! Get’em

Danny and I had the pleasure of having Seth Hall from the Houndsman XP Podcast run with us and get a feel for trailing in the ETX. Congradulations to all the hunters and wish y’all the best for the remainder of the season! Get’em

Elk #2 and the story! So received a call from a friend and outfitter Jack Wilson about a situation on a ranch he was guiding on yesterday. Seems his hunter had gut show a cow elk and as he dropped his rifle to chamber another round the cow moved off into the brush and another stepped out. In his excitement the hunter squeezed the round off into the second cow hitting her low in the back leg. This wasn’t going to be easy on the dogs, knew we would have to catch #1, get it out of the woods with the minimum amount of contamination possible. As you can see from the first video I ran Dutch and my 6 month old pup Mia. It’s was Dutch’s first Elk and Mia’s first animal on the hoof. Dutch made quick work of the trail and had her bayed up within 300 yds of last blood. This was the leg shot cow. We put Mia back in the box and got the cow loaded...now it was Bess’s turn and she was ready!! I had a feeling the other cow wouldn’t be far from the first, but needed to push the dogs around the hit sight of the first one to keep them from getting hung in the contaminated area. With a slight hiccup (aoudad on the line) we were able to get the dogs past the trash where Bess cut a fresh track and bam, 300 out her and Dutch sat down on the cow in one of the nastiest cedar thickets I’ve ever encountered. I purposely blew that cow, there was no way I could dispatch in there, she was pretty sick and wasn’t going far! She took off another 100yds to the top of the bluff where I was able to sneak in a couple shots. Glad we could end their suffering and make a Hunter very happy!!!
