Meet BODIE!!!!

Bodie is a twelve week old male Aussie mix. He and his two siblings were dumped out on the side of the road. I was driving home one day and all three of them ran out in front of my car crossing the road.

Bodie gets along great woth every dog he meets , as well as kids. He hasn’t been around any cats. He is tender hearted, gentle, and super sweet. Bodie loves playing with balls, squeaky toys, and ropes. He also likes to lay on his back and get belly rubs. But his favorite thing is FOOD🤣. He is the first one to come running to the kitchen when he hears me open the refrigerator.

Meet Ruby!!!!

Ruby is a twelve week old female Aussie mix. She and her two siblings were dumped out on the side of the road. I was driving home one day and all three of them ran out in front of my car crossing the road.

Ruby gets along great with every dog she meets and children. She hasn’t been around any cats. Ruby is extremely smart and learns things super fast. She loves playing with her stuffed animals, balls, and empty water bottles. She also enjoys watching the birds outside the window. Ruby is affectionate and loves to have her ears rubbed. Snuggling is her favorite thing to do.

Meet Aspen!!!!

Aspen is a twelve week old male Retriever/Collie mix. He and his two siblings were dumped out on the side of the road. I was driving home one day and all three of them ran out in front of my car crossing the road. We can’t believe this beautiful boy hasn’t had even one application filled out in almost four weeks.

Aspen was COVERED in thousands of fleas. It looked like he had black eyebrows from the flea eggs above his eyes (last pictures below). He gets along great with other dogs and kids. He hasn’t been around any cats. Aspen is very gentle but playful. He loves playing with other dogs, stuffed animals, and empty water bottles. He also likes having his belly rubbed and cuddling. He is super smart and very curious.

Tallulah is a beautiful fourteen week old Aussiedoodle. She is currently being fostered in Rhode Island and hasn’t received one single application to be adopted. She is almost potty trained , knows how to sit, working on leash training, loves to snuggle, enjoys riding in the car, doesn’t chew or destroy anything, gets along great with other dogs and kids, and is just the sweetest little girl. Back in 2013 , Janet Seago sent me the first picture below and asked me if I could “foster” that tiny, starved little boy. Little did I know that this would be the beginning of something that would forever change the path of my life. Rush was my VERY FIRST foster dog. He was adopted by Scott Begin and Vanessa Prairie , whom at the time were pregnant with a baby on the way. We thought he was a Lab mix, but boy were we wrong. That 13 pound boy grew up to be a 120 pound REGAL GREAT DANE.❤️

Today I found out that Rush passed away. Dogs never live long enough if you ask me, but Great Danes really don’t live long enough. I’m so thankful this sweet boy spent 10 1/2 years in a home where he was cherished and loved. All of my rescues are special to me, but Rush was the dog that started it all. Rest easy beautiful boy. Sending love and prayers to his family. I can’t thank yall enough for giving him the life every dog deserves. 🙏🏻❤️

Meet Millie…….
Millie is a 12 week old , 16 pound Australian Shepherd Mix. She and her 6 littermates were dumped out on a gravel road in TN with their wire crate. Thankfully two young boys found them all. She gets along great with other dogs, kids , and hasn’t been around any cats. This little girl is a super smart, loving, and a total cuddle bug. I can’t emphasize how sweet she really is. Hattie, Silo, and Griffin are starting to get defeated . They have been waiting to get adopted for weeks and can’t understand why they haven’t been picked. Hattie and Silo are siblings, both 12 weeks old, get along great with other dogs and kids, and ready to travel North next weekend. Their mom is a Lab mix. Griffin is a full blooded Australian Shepherd male. He is also 12 weeks old and gets along great with other dogs and CATS . Griffin has a foster in Rhode Island . Our last adoption for the year of 2023 really brought tears to my eyes. Sampson was homeless and living where all the cats are we have been trying to help. He wasn’t in great shape and was the only one that I could pet. He was fostered by my friend and previous adopter of THREE Lead Me Home Rescue dogs. She text me at the end of the year and said she wanted to give him his forever home. This sweet boy couldn’t have landed a better life anywhere else. The pictures below were from when I first met him and the others are of his NEW LIFE.

As 2023 is coming to an end, I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year. I can’t say that I’m even the slightest bit sad to see this year go. Out of all the years that I have done rescue, this by far has been the hardest and the most heartbreaking. Between parvo at the beginning of the year and the slowest adoptions rates I’ve seen in ten years, I can only pray next year is better. To everyone that adopted a dog or cat this year from Lead Me Home Rescue , I want to personally say THANK YOU. And to all of you that have shared, shared, and shared pictures to help get them adopted, THANK YOU! Especially you Kyle Bishop 🙏🏻 I also want to say THANK YOU to Nancy Brown-Johnston. I honestly don’t think I could’ve survived any of this year without you. You saved me in more ways than you will ever know. I will forever be indebted to you my friend. Your kindness , compassion, and determination is truly inspiring. And lastly, THANK YOU to every single one of you that fostered and donated to help me keep doing what I do.

There were a lot of animals saved this year that otherwise probably wouldn’t have had a chance. But it sure does crush my heart when I lose any of them. For the ones I lost this year, I dedicate all of this past years rescue efforts in your honor. Happy New Year everyone. #2024

This beautiful 12 week old little girl will be arriving in RI next weekend. She and her sister will be making the long trip North. Her sister has already been adopted. Hazel gets along FABULOUS with dogs and other cats. She has been fostered in a home where she was surrounded by both. She is very affectionate and loving. I was finally able to trap the sibling to the Siamese white cat I rescued two months ago tonight. Someone also dropped this orange boy off there this week. He wasn’t even the slightest bit feral. Both of them have horrible colds and will need to see the vet ASAP. I will need to get them spay/neutered and their shots as well. I also had someone agree to take two of the feral ones from the area I’m working on. I will need to trap them and will also have to get all of their vetting done too. So right now I’m looking at around 450-500 dollars to fully vet all four cats. That’s including flea/tick meds and heart worm preventives.

These kitties all came from where the large group of cats all live , that we are slowly trying to help. The first picture of Aspen was the first time I saw him out there hiding in the weeds. The other three I bottle raised from three weeks of age. They all made it to their forever homes this past weekend. I’m so glad they are not stuck out there homeless, cold, and never getting to experience love. Also Miss Birdie made her way to her new family as well.

I can’t believe that these beautiful babies haven’t been adopted yet. All their siblings have gone to their forever homes weeks ago. Will, Ansley, and Birdie don’t understand why no one has picked them yet. They are all 16 weeks old, weighing between 22-26 pounds. Beagle/dachshund mixes. Rogue is a 14 week old dachshund/beagle mix. He weighs 25 pounds and gets along great with other dogs and kids. He is leash trained and knows some commands. This poor boy has been waiting over TWO MONTHS to find his forever home. He is super affectionate, playful, and sweet. This is beautiful Layla. She is a six month old Anatolian Shepherd mix. She weighs 48 pounds, crate trained, leash trained, almost fully potty trained, knows several commands, gets along amazing with other dogs and kids. She was rescued and fostered in TN by Nancy Brown-Johnston for a good while with zero adoption inquiries. She is currently in Rhode Island with a great friend and foster or mine , Keri Sobel. None of us can understand how on Earth this precious girl hasn’t been adopted yet. She doesn’t enjoy having her picture made , so her foster even hired a professional photographer. All of her siblings have been adopted and Layla doesn’t know why she hasn’t been picked yet.
