Back to school vibes -- but this time the subject is unconditional love! Can I enroll in your home? 💜
Hi! I'm Olaf and I like warm hugs." I'm not 'frozen' like my namesake, but the quote fits me perfectly. I'm a 75-pound, 2.5-year-old, loveable Shepherd-mix, goofball, with a heart of gold. I'm house-trained (if there are puddles on the floor they have to be from the snowman). I'm also crate trained and my leash skills have improved SO much. I have spurts of energy and playfulness, but then I love to cozy up on the couch and binge-watch TV. I mean really watch TV. It fascinates me.
Maybe because I spent the majority of my life tied outside, I really appreciate the comforts of a warm home. I get along with female dogs, but I don't care for male dogs. I'm also good with cats and kids. Kids should be sturdy, as I haven't quite realized I'm a big boy. A female, canine friend would be great, but I could be okay as your one-and-only. I am flexible with my fencing requirements. However, if there is no fence I would need regular walks and exercise. No apartments for me. I would love a person who is committed to unconditional love and patience as I learn how to be a valued family member.
My adoption fee is $150 and includes my spay/neuter, vaccinations, wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip! If you're interested in meeting/adopting me, please visit www.rescueonespringfield.com/our-adoption-process/adoption-application/ and fill out the form!
Hi! I'm Borneo, and just like the lush, laid-back island I’m named after, I’m all about relaxation and sweetness. I’m a super chill 8 month old fella and if you pick me up, I’ll melt right into your arms. It’s almost like I don’t have any bones—I’m so relaxed that if you’re not careful, I might just slip right out! I’m incredibly sweet, always purring and rubbing against your legs or nuzzling your face. Attention is my favorite thing in the world, whether it’s being petted, held, or just soaking up all the love you have to give. I get along with both cats and kids, but have never been exposed to dogs. Get ready for an adventure of a lifetime.
My adoption fee is $75. This fee includes my vaccinations, FIV/FELV testing, de-wormer, spay/neuter, microchip, and flea preventative. Fill out an application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ROS/Cat if you would like to meet me!
Karma is a queen, and that's me. I'm an approximately 4 month old, 7 pound, Chihuahua mix girl who is ready to give back all the love I have received while at Rescue One. I am a friendly and outgoing girl. I LOVE other dogs and cats. In fact, I love playing with the cat in my foster home and laying on the back of the couch with it. I also love dogs of all sizes. Since I am still so small, larger dogs need to be gentle and calmer in nature so I do not get injured. I am working on potty training and house training. I am crate trained and am working on the "sit" command. I will need a house setting, no apartments, and would really prefer a fenced yard. No invisible fence for this tiny girl. A chain link fence is okay, however I can very easily slip between a chain link gate and the pole it is attached to. I do not have leash experience, yet. I enjoy being held and lounging only for short periods of time, I am a very active girl and have a lot of playful energy. I will need someone who can keep up with me. I would do fine with children, as long as they are gentle with me. If you are ready to play and share all the love, apply for me now!
**As a reminder, puppies will need lots of time and attention during the first year. Before adopting me, please make sure that you have enough time, energy and commitment to devote to my training. Puppies need a lot of care, so everyone in your household should be on board and ready to help out**
My adoption fee is $150 and includes my spay/neuter, vaccinations, wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip! If you're interested in meeting/adopting me, please visit www.rescueonespringfield.com/our-adoption-process/adoption-application/ and fill out the form! We do adopt out of state with vet references and video home check.

We. Are. Tired!
It has been a long, exhausting week trying to get our new clinic ready and we are only $2,400 short of what we need to finish. If you would like to donate to helping us getting it up and running, there are A LOT of animals in need that would appreciate it as well as our staff. Even a $1 helps and if everyone here did that, we could spay and neuter and help so many emergent animals. Here is how you can help:

Paypal: [email protected]
Or if you would like to buy one of the last remaining items needed from our new clinic wishlist, here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2BFYJWR928WW?ref_=wl_share
Also, if you have any shelving, baseboard, or quarter round, we could sure use that too! You can email us at [email protected].
Thank you all for spreading the word and helping us get this done. We appreciate you! As always, all donations are tax deductible!

I surrender! I'm Frank James, a three month old shepherd mix (likely to be a big boy) with a wild spirit and a knack for adventure. Just like my namesake, I managed to outsmart law enforcement for a bit. I was on the run, dodging capture, but eventually, they cornered me, and I had to surrender. They put me behind bars, but I wasn't ready to give up my freedom just yet. I escaped confinement, enjoyed a brief taste of liberty, but they caught up with me again. Now, I'm working on taming my outlaw ways with house, crate, and leash training. I'm playful, friendly, and absolutely love attention. I like to play hard and sleep hard, making sure I enjoy every moment to the fullest. I'm great with dogs, cats, and kids, so I fit right in with any posse. What I need now is a home with a fenced yard where I can stretch my legs and a loving, patient family who can help me settle down. If you're looking for a spirited companion with a heart full of love, I'm your pup. Let's ride off into the sunset together!
My adoption fee is $150 and includes my spay/neuter, vaccinations, wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip! If you're interested in meeting/adopting me, please visit www.rescueonespringfield.com/our-adoption-process/adoption-application/ and fill out the form!

Raspberry is a resilient 3-year-old, 51-pound American Staffordshire Terrier/Pit mix. She has endured unimaginable abuse, leaving her with a spinal injury that causes her to struggle with incontinence. While indoors, she relies on a diapering system, but her true joy comes from basking in the sun and being free from her diaper outside. Raspberry gets along well with dogs as well as with children. She has a blast at doggie day care and is a weekly regular! She is an amazing girl who deserves a home where she will be cherished for exactly who she is.
If you can provide Raspberry with the loving home she deserves, please fill out an application at rescueonespringfield.com. Her adoption fee is sponsored to an approved home!
The day we received the keys to our new clinic, we ambitiously started by tearing up 4,500 square feet of carpet. Our initial plan? Rent a machine and tackle the glue removal ourselves. But after two days of hard work and barely any progress, we quickly realized we were in over our heads.
We turned to our amazing Facebook community for help, and in no time, Commander Flooring LLC swooped in to save the day! They have been an absolute dream to work with, going above and beyond to help us. We are beyond grateful! 🙌
Please do us a favor: head over to the Commander Flooring LLC page, give them a follow, and contact them for all your concrete finishing needs. We can’t recommend them enough! 👏 Thank you again Commander Flooring!

WE LOVE LUCY- but she needs a home!
Lucy is a 8-9 year old Terrier mix who is currently in boarding. She is a dream with people and loves kids. She does need to be an only pet and would love a home with a privacy fence. She LOVES water and snuggles on the couch. She would make a single pet home a fantastic companion!
Fill out an application for Lucy today at rescueonespringfield.com!

Transformation Tuesday - Grasshopper Edition!
391 days ago, Grasshopper was found lying alone in a field, scared and severely emaciated. When our team picked him up, he only weighed 36 pounds. While this old man's past remains a mystery, it is clear that Grasshopper has trauma that left him wary of strangers and unsure of the world around him.
With love, patience, and time, Grasshopper began to gain trust and weight in his foster home and is now a healthy 79 pounds! Although his age and past make new situations challenging, Grasshopper has found happiness in his foster home. In Rescue One's fospice program, his final chapter will be one of comfort and peace, thanks to the dedication of his foster and the support of the rescue community.

A good friend is like a four-leaf clover, hard to find and lucky to have. I’m Clovers, born on March 30, 2024, and I’m a bit of a lucky charm! I love cuddling up with my brother, Hearts—we’re two peas in a pod. While I can be a little skittish, I come alive when there’s a ball to chase. I’m energetic and playful and I’m very fond of my siblings. I would love to have another cat by my side in my forever home. I also enjoy being petted, especially after a good play session. If you’re looking for a cute and cuddly kitten with a playful spirit and a heart full of love, I’m your Clovers.
My adoption fee is $75. This fee includes my vaccinations, FIV/FELV testing, de-wormer, spay/neuter, microchip, and flea preventative. Fill out an application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ROS/Cat if you would like to meet me!
With a nose as keen as a magnifying glass, I am ready to sniff out all of the hidden treasures at my new home! My name is Cutter and I am a 62 pound, 3 year old hound who is made for hunting and tracking! Whether I'm enjoying a leisurely stroll through the park or our neighborhood, or lounging at home with my favorite humans, my laid-back "leash" on life and affectionate nature make me the perfect furry future for anyone! I'm kennel trained flawlessly, great on my leash (unless I see a squirrel or a pesky cat... no kitty friends for this pup!) and I'm almost completely potty trained! I'm also great with other dogs!
My superpower is: I have a special fondness for children and love them with my whole heart. I have bonded deeply with all ages of small kiddos, and show a special connection with all of the littles that come into my life. I'm respectful in the yard, too - no hound dog bellowing from this beaming boy!
As poised and relaxed as I am in demeanor, I still have a penchant for adventures! I am ALWAYS up for a car ride to explore new sights and sounds, and you won't catch me without a smile on my droopy face!
My fur-ever future will be a tranquil little life with a family and kiddos to love me, as much as I love them. :) I love to sunbathe in the yard and trot around with the kiddos, I LOVE my ball, and I promise to be the best little-league teammate you could ask for!

Storytime:
One of our staff members posted this in our private foster and volunteer group and we wanted to give you a glimpse into the world of fostering. We've all been feeling the weight of the number of intakes but our incredible team of staff, fosters, and volunteers has been nothing short of amazing. No words of thanks could ever truly express our gratitude for each and every one of them. We are always accepting new fosters and volunteers and you can sign up at rescueonespringfield.com. We would love to have you!
"4 years ago I was a devastated dog mom, with just one of these boxes. Just one. Desperately seeking a way to find peace in the incredible grief of losing my soul dog, Clementine. 4 years ago I joined Rescue One as a volunteer, just wanting to do their laundry and pet their office dogs, because I could not imagine another dog in my house after losing Clem. It was at the office that I met my very first foster, Picasso, hiding behind a chair and wanting to bite everyone he saw, after his owner strangled him until he was unconscious and nearly slit his throat - my Pip-pip, who I, of course, immediately fell in love with. My Pico, who is now after 4 years, one of the best things that has ever happened to me. 🥹 I went from being unable to fathom another dog in Clementine's home and just doing some laundry to help an organization I believed in deeply, to now being a proud employee and coordinator, with a constant rotating crew of emergency/critical medicals, regular fosters, behavioral cases, and many permutations and combinations of all of the above. And I wouldn't have it any other way. This photo that I took during some organizing I've been slowly doing, was just especially poignant to me, and I wanted to share it. I've had 77 fosters between R1 and the mastiff rescues I help in honor of Clem, in the past four years. Being an ICU nurse, and a crash-course behavior foster, I quickly fell into more difficult fosters of many kinds with open arms early on. 6 of my fosters to date have passed away. Some from critical medical causes we could not undo despite days and weeks of grueling effort, some from terminal diseases after a lifetime of suffering, some from the simple unfairness of life - which they, already, sadly knew too well. I have cried as hard and grieved as deeply for each dog I have lost as I did for my girl, Clem. Each one has reminded me how brave, how loyal, how pure a dog's heart is - despite the before that they had each endured. From pups 3 weeks old to 16 years old, I've had the gamut of amazing dogs filling my life with immeasurable gladness, incalculable grief, and unwitting humility at once. I just thought it important to share this photo because, while it *does* represent loss, it also represents dignity. It exemplifies the reason we are here. Each dog resting quietly in their spot here with each of their favorite things in life, would have met a terrible, suffering end if it were not for rescue. They instead got to gently fall asleep next to someone who loved them fiercely. Probably for the first time since they had been born. The 71 others (and counting) who have been through my home and remain in my heart, would have undoubtedly ended up slowly dissolving into the darkness, alone and unloved, in pain and in fear. But they didn't. They got to live, they get to experience forever and unconditional love, like they always deserved. Because of rescue. Being a foster is, sometimes, very hard work. We don't get paid for it, we sometimes want to take breaks, we sometimes want to drive into the lake full-speed instead of driving home (🤣). We sometimes want to quit. But mostly, being a foster is a beautiful, irreplaceable, humbling, rewarding, and unparalleled experience. You single-handedly get to change the course of history for an animal that has no one to look to, no one to count on, and no one - but you - in their corner. It is rare in this world that we get to change the trajectory of a certain painful existence for any living thing. But the opportunity to stick it out, to lean on your village when it's tougher than normal, to be the primary catalyst of fairness and justness for a living creature that is afforded neither of those things in life, and did not ask to be born... that, to me, is worth more than anything this life could ever offer me. Rescue never stops. And I know that's overwhelming. Trust me. 🥺 But, please remember the impact of every effort, big and small, on the life of a dog that looks to your hands as they hold their future in them. 💓 Even when it does not seem like it, I promise you - you will always, always feel that the effort is worth it in the end".
💜
To Clementine, Louie, Wilbur, Chase, Cookie, Tollie, and Griselda. ❤️🩹

Meet Apollo, a 1.5-year-old terrier whose name pays homage to the Greek god of the sun, music, and prophecy. At 35 pounds, Apollo is a high-energy dynamo with a vibrant personality that’s sure to light up your life just like his mythological namesake!
Apollo is currently honing his potty training and leash skills, but he’s already a champ with commands like Sit, Stay, Down, and Up. This terrier is a socialite, thriving with dogs his size and adoring human interaction. While he hasn’t met any cats yet, he’s been fantastic with older children, though his high energy might be a bit too much for very young ones.
A 6 foot privacy fence is a must for this agile jumper, who could easily leap over a lower barrier. If you’re in an apartment, daily walks are essential. Apollo’s playful antics and constant desire for interaction mean he’ll fit perfectly with families or singles who can match his energetic lifestyle. Whether you’re ready for a companion who will turn your home into his personal Olympus or simply need a loyal friend with a touch of mythological charm, Apollo is ready to embark on this epic journey with you.
His adoption fee is $150 and includes my spay/neuter, vaccinations, wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip! If you're interested in meeting/adopting me, please visit www.rescueonespringfield.com/our-adoption-process/adoption-application/ and fill out the form! Bear (Qbert) update! First, we want to thank everyone who donated to his care! Second, he is doing great and is going to hang out at our clinic for a few more days for bandage changes and then he is going home! Again, THANK YOU!
Behind the scenes - Our emergency rescue team came to the aid of a kitten who couldn't quite figure out how to get out of a utility box for two days. Her little paws reaching through the bars and her cries for help broke our hearts. It took a lot of patience but we are so glad she's safe now and on her way to a better life!

Our newest arrival, André, just 4 weeks old, is in critical condition and bravely fighting for his life after being abandoned. He could really use all the prayers and well wishes you can send his way!
In moments like these, words seem inadequate, and all we can muster is a heavy-hearted, "What Now?" We answered a call from law enforcement and were confronted with a heartbreaking sight: 60 dogs in desperate need of rescue or spay and neuter services. We've reached out to other rescue groups, but the reality is stark: every rescue and shelter is incredibly overwhelmed. This situation combined with our current waiting lists and dogs needing to be returned has left us with al most 100 dogs in desperate need of placement. Regrettably, our kennel space and foster homes have been exhausted. We are pleading with individuals who can offer solace and shelter to these animals. Your act of fostering or adopting will not only change their lives but also provide them with the love and care they deserve. We also urge pet owners to please act responsibly by spaying and neutering their pets. This simple step can avert situations like the one we're facing now. If you can offer temporary foster care or can adopt, please fill out a application at rescueonespringfield.com. For those unable to foster, please consider supporting us by donating items from our wishlist to help our current needs. We're currently in dire need of Purina Lamb and Rice and canned puppy and kitten food. You can find our Chewy wishlist at ,https://www.chewy.com/g/rescue-one_b71849030, our Amazon Wishlist at https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2T57IRHY478GD?ref_=wl_share or you can purchase items from anywhere and have them shipped to our address at 1927 E. Bennett STE B, Springfield, MO 65802. Your support, no matter the size, is a lifeline for us and the animals we care for. Thank you for your support and please join us in spreading the word and saving lives.
