Small Victories Animal Rescue SVAR has been formed by a small group of animal lovers in Kalamazoo, Michigan who want to help animals in need as well as the people that love them.

Small Victories Animal Rescue consists of a small group of people in the Kalamazoo, Michigan area that want to make a difference in animals' lives. If there is an animal in need and the resources are available, we will do what we can to help. Our intention is to grow within our communities and develop a core group of volunteers that not only believe in helping animals, but the people that care for

them as well. Currently we are in need of funding for veterinary expenses. We will eventually work out relationships with local shelters where we can pull animals for fostering in order to relieve some of the overcrowding they are experiencing. It is important to us that we help people as much as we help the animals. We want to find the right homes for the pets we rescue... homes that will last. This will require taking the time to know our applicants, educate them when necessary, and make sure the pet they are interested in is the right match for them. Gaining our non-profit status will be an early goal in order to help with fundraising and eventually grants. There are a lot of rescues out there and a lot of volunteers helping those rescues. Finding fosters and volunteers can be difficult. We are also looking for help from people with our same philosophies. In addition to so many being out there, they are all looking for funding... and the majority deserve the funding they receive. We want to be very transparent regarding how our money is used. We also want to develop good relationships with other rescues. We should all be working together to help these animals, owners, as well as each other. Please share our cause with your friends. We can use basic pet care items such as food, towels, stainless steel bowls, etc. Besides donating, there will also be many ways you can volunteer. We are very open to using people's strengths where they fit best. Please let us know your interests or contact us if you'd like a list of potential duties. Thank you so much for considering helping us get started! [email protected]

Despite our best efforts, Thomas and Lulu still need a home. They're about 9 mo's old, vaccinated, and spayed and neutered. They still struggle with one weepy eye each and this photo is showing a bad day. So they occasionally need drops and some help with cleaning. But they could possibly be the sweetest kitties you could ever find. Loud purrs, love attention, and love all people and animals. Do you have it in your heart to take on one or both special needs babies? Message us! 💕

Lulu and Thomas are very anxious to find their forever home. They are an extremely bonded pair and we are looking for an indoor home where they can stay together. We've rescued a lot of kitties and have never had more well behaved kittens than these two. They are sweet, loving, and want nothing more than to snuggle with you and with each other. Although they are still fun loving and adventurous little kittens, they are also extremely laid back for their age.

They love people and are great with dogs and other cats. They are very respectful to their furry siblings and are quick to learn boundaries and respect them. They would be very happy in a home with other pets or just on their own... as long as they have each other.

They've been through a lot as we worked through the health problems that they started with when they were rescued. Lots of medications and TLC later, and we have two very healthy little kitties with one exception... they do have Rhinotracheitis, which is a form of feline herpes. All cats carry this, but only a select few have lifetime problems with it. You can see from the photos that the kitties do sometimes have weepy eyes and will occasionally sneeze, but I understand at this point they are no longer shedding the virus. In fact, they have been living with our own cats for months and our cats have had no symptoms whatsoever.

Lulu and Thomas will need to have their eyes wiped clean from time to time. Currently they do have eye drops to help them through their more weepy days and we're seeing improvement every day. The veterinarians they've seen expect that they will outgrow most of these symptoms, however they may reoccur off and on throughout their adult lives.

They are 5 months old and fully vaccinated and wormed. Thomas will be neutered next week and we are working on getting Lulu scheduled for her spay.

Please consider adding these sweet and adorable kittens to your home. We promise that any apprehension you might have about their special needs will be erased once you meet them. They want nothing more than to love and be loved.

We still have our three most recent rescue kitties, affectionately known as the Cooper Cats. We are unfortunately running out of time to find them good homes.

Annie is our petite little momma kitty. She is about as sweet as they come. She has just the right amount of sass coupled with a love of attention and playfulness. Annie gets along great with dogs and should do well with other kitties, as long as she is given the appropriate time to adjust. She'd be great for someone who wants a dog, but can't have one. We actually think she'd prefer to be a dog sometimes.

Annie has taken good care of her little ones and now needs a place to call her own. There is a possibility that she has Rhinotracheitis, since her kittens have it. This is a form of herpes virus that never really goes away and may show up with respiratory symptoms now and then. She has not shown any signs of it yet, but there is a chance she carries it. The good news is that she should no longer be shedding it as a contagion and it really does little to impact her quality of life.

Poor Annie is going stir crazy in her current caged environment. She deserves so much better than that. Please, if you are considering adopting a kitty, consider our little Annie. We promise you won't be disappointed in this sweet, beautiful girl.

Annie is spayed, vaccinated, wormed, and is receiving monthly preventative. She is 100% ready to go! :)

These beautiful kitties are coming right along and will be ready for adoption next week!
Momma Annie will be spayed and fully vaccinated. She's a sweet little kitten at heart... no more than a year old. She adores attention and loves to play.
Lulu and Thomas will be started on vaccines and if everything checks out okay... ready for a new home that will love loud purrs, tiny kisses, snuggles, and the occasional kitten zooms.

Kitties are all coming along. As you may notice, the eyes still need improvement, but they're very happy little puds. Momma Annie was spayed today thanks to the Kalamazoo Humane Society. They are all absolute sweeties. Message us if interested in adoption!

Checking out okay today. Still need more improvement on the kittens' eyes, but they're coming along well.

Hours of non-stop entertainment for Lulu and Thomas provided by a sad, broken down paper towel box... even Momma-Annie got into the action.

The "Cooper Cats" are going strong. I had to separate Annie from the babies since she is no longer producing milk and I didn't have enough space to give her somewhere to go to escape from them. They all play together twice a day though.

I'll try and get better pictures soon. Thomas is usually just a blur. 😂 Unfortunately his eyes are also taking much longer to heal. Lulu and Annie are looking great!

Kitties are progressing well and getting a bit stir-crazy. Lulu and Thomas have figured out they're small enough to squeeze through certain spots in the kitty-cage, but fortunately they only seem to attempt that when it's feeding time.

See individual updates by looking at the photo captions. Or just enjoy their cuteness :)

Thank you again to everyone's support. I cannot thank you all enough. It definitely makes me feel like I'm doing the right thing, even when the going gets tough!

Friends! Kittens are freaking amazing!
Both babies are eating on their own, using the litterbox, AND Little Lulu's eye is starting to open. Fingers crossed that the eye is going to heal and be okay.
Momma is wonderful and so incredibly sweet. She's no longer nursing them, but continues to be a very attentive.
Small victories! 😁❤🐱

Yesterday we picked up a small kitty family that were in pretty bad shape. Momma is just a kitten herself and did the best she could for a litter of four (possibly more?). There are now only two left with severe respiratory infections. We took them to emergency vet yesterday and got the kittens on antibiotics and eye drops. One particular kitten was not eating on its own and in very rough shape. I am happy to report that she survived the night and even tried to eat this morning. She hasn't quite figured it all out yet, so she received her breakfast via syringe again.
Meet Momma kitty Annie, and siblings Thomas and Little Lulu
