Hi there! My name is Minnie, and I am an incredibly sweet little girl. I am seven years old and people say I have the best qualities you can find in a dog: intelligent, friendly, and adorable. I am a friendly, funny, and smart dog who loves to cuddle up on the couch with my people. I would love to meet a forever family that can give me lots of love and attention. If you're interested in meeting me, please fill out an adoption application by visiting grrrsavesdogs.org/applications.
I can't wait to find my forever home and give you lots of kisses!

All GRRR adopter homes must be within 75 miles of Savannah, smoke free environments and for many of our dogs have a secure fenced yard. Exceptions on fenced yard considered on case-by-case scenario. For additional information, please reach out to LeeAnn - GRRR Adoption & Foster Coordinator at (912) 308-9231

Everyone, meet Peaches - an adorable senior pup with a heart of gold! Peaches is a gentle and quiet dog, but don't let her reserved nature fool you. She's a loyal and affectionate companion who will stick by your side through thick and thin. Peaches is the perfect pooch for someone looking for a calm and easy-going furry friend. She's looking for a home where she can be the center of your affection but she is great with other dogs and cats. Peaches is looking for a family to love and care for her. Could that be you?

If you could either be her forever foster or ideally her forever home, please reach out to LeeAnn our Foster - Adoption Coordinator at (912) 308-9231

All GRRR adopter and foster homes must be smoke free environments and be located within 75 miles of Savannah.

16 year old Buddy was recently rescued by GRRR with his sister Bindy from Decatur, Georgia. On Friday, we had to have him shaved under anesthesia due to the severity of matting between his toes. Pictured is Buddy saying goodbye to the incredible Friday team at Eastside Veterinary Hospital after waking. He looks beautiful! Thank you Dr. Marlay!

Wee need foster parents desperately. When the rescue is willing to do all the work and only asks a foster parent to provide love and a safe environment, it’s really not that hard. We can’t save lives if you can’t help. All the posted cute sayings, memes and “shared with prayers” won’t rescue an animal from the shelter. Your actions will. If you could foster for GRRR, please visit https://www.grrrsavesdogs.org/volunteer

Thank you to Linda, Sherry, LeeAnn, Phil and Perry for being our GRRR ambassadors and the Ghost Pirates ambassadors at the annual Christmas On The Bluff Festival tonight in Thunderbolt. Joining them were GRRR senior dogs Peaches, Buddy, Bonnie and Jessie. We did outreach to the community on our senior dog program as well as fundraising through the sale of beautiful hand painted ornaments created by our friends at the Craft Guild. Thank you to everyone for an incredible evening of holiday cheer and goodwill. All of our senior dog ambassadors pictured are seeking loving forever homes so please reach out to us if you could be their special person.

Be the change you want to see in the world and help us help these two wonderful dogs. Lil’ Bit and Patrick lost their dad when he recently died and are currently living all by themselves in his deserted house with a doggie door. A kind neighbor is feeding them but these sweet and friendly dogs are starved for love and and human interaction.

The black one is Lil Bit , she is spayed, 10 years old, Boston Terrier mix, approximately 45 lbs. in size. The brown and white one is Patrick, he is neutered, 10 years old, a Boston Terrier mix, approximately 50 lbs. in size. They are a bonded brother and sister, they have been together since birth. They both have been indoor/outdoor dogs, they are both house broken, super friendly and have lived with cats.

If you could assist as a foster parent while we ready them for forever homes, please complete the following steps:
1. Complete our foster application found at https://www.grrrsavesdogs.org/volunteer
2. Upon completion of the application, please call LeeAnn with GRRR at (912) 308-9231

This past Friday we rescued ten year old Max from Liberty County Animal Control. He is visually impaired and deaf. He visited Dr. Mulvey that same day for intake and presented with one of the more challenging skin cases we have encountered in recent times. Today we visited Dr. Mulvey again for additions to his medical protocol and he is currently staying with Perry to get him through this tough time. He is an absolutely amazing dog, great with Perry’s dogs and cats and has a gentle soul that is filled with love. Once we get through this, we will be seeking a forever home for this amazing dog.

LeeAnn and Perry travelled to Liberty County Animal Control yesterday to rescue blind ten year old Max. First stop on the way back to Savannah was the PetSmart in Hinesville for a new collar and ID tag. Look for more information on Max’s big day yesterday in posts to follow. Welcome Max to GRRR - we love you!

Good news and bad news. We rescued blind sixteen year old Ricki yesterday after she lost her parents. She had her intake exam with Dr. Mulvey today and received an excellent report card for her age. Welcome Ricki to GRRR!

Now you get the bad news. This week we posted five senior dogs requiring foster homes so they could be saved. Between our two social media sites we have close to 10,000 followers. Guess how many people locally stepped up to help? None. That’s a ratio of 0 to 10,000. The three we saved in the last 48 hours went into existing foster homes, already beyond full. Was there a choice? No. This statement highlights the common disconnect where many people express support for rescuing animals, but hardly any are willing to take on the active role of fostering, which is the primary way to save dogs and cats. Visit: https://www.grrrsavesdogs.org/volunteer to start being the change you want to see in the world.

Sweet lil’ Chewie had her intake exam today with Dr. Becker at Eastside. We are thankful she is in our care now, the poor little girl demonstrates much neglect as seen in the giant growths in the ears from chronic infection and inflammation. Look at the nails as long as the George Washington Bridge she was forced to walk on. Matted fur everywhere including obstructing her a**s. People’s irresponsibility with their animals is truly horrible. The good news? She left Eastside today, fully immunized, HW tested, nails cut, mats on her a**s shaved and a surgery date established for removal of the ear tumors and spay on the 30th of this month. Chewie will ring in the new year 48 hours after surgery as a whole new dog. Thank you to everyone on our team making this happen including Dr. Becker. Chewie may not realize it yet, but there are many people who believe that she is the most important little girl in the world.

Eight year old Marlowe and Miley are bonded sisters pulled from a hoarding property in Liberty County. The two little girls were left in the filth and despair inside the house. Unfortunately their owner fell victim to dementia and the dog’s lives fell victim as well. They are spending this week at Liberty County AC and on Friday we will drive down to pick them up. Prior to pick-up up, they will be dog and cat tested, de-flea’d and provided initial immunizations. Once in foster, we will fully vet and spay them and prepare them for a loving forever home. If you could assist as a foster parent while we ready them for a forever home, please complete the following steps:
1. Complete our foster application found at: https://www.grrrsavesdogs.org/volunteer

16 year old RC lost her mom and has no where to go. We have committed to picking her up tomorrow morning at 8:30 am but need an immediate soft place for her to land. She is blind and will need to be vetted by us as soon as possible. She loves to be cuddled and held. Due to her advanced age, foster applicants must be aware that this is a forever foster. All medical costs for the remainder of her life will be paid by GRRR, foster parent furnishes safety and love. If you could assist as a foster parent for RC, please do the following:
1. Complete our foster application found at https://www.grrrsavesdogs.org/volunteer
2. After completion of application, call LeeAnn with GRRR at (912) 308-9231

Left in a car to die. The ten year old blind terrier would have died had not a police officer saw him. His owner had been taken away due to dementia and two other senior dogs and many cats were found inside the house surrounded by filth and despair. The three sweet dogs are now safe at Liberty County Animal Control. Perry and LeeAnn with GRRR are picking them up on Friday at noon and the three senior dogs will join GRRR’s Last Stop Loved Program. Much vetting, love and care will be required but we are there to turn their lives around. This is just one story of hundreds regarding the work we have done with senior dogs and cats. Help us help them by donating to support our Last Stop Loved Senior Dog and Cat program to donate, please visit:

Our Story

Founded in 2011, GRRR is a small 501(c)(3) rescue organization that serves Savannah, Georgia and the surrounding counties. We are dedicated to rescuing small dogs under 30 lbs. in size from owners who are no longer able to care for them, from public shelters without a “no-kill” policy, and from situations where they have suffered abuse or neglect. We are committed to helping both the most needy and the more readily adoptable animals in our community. GRRR places a large emphasis on working with senior dogs who are overlooked by most people when they are adopting a dog. We have rescued many senior dogs, insuring that their last years are comfortable, loved and happy. All donations made are tax deductible, and every dollar goes directly to the care of our animals. All of our rescues are spayed or neutered, receive proper veterinary treatment, and are placed in loving foster homes while awaiting adoption. To meet a pet of interest please complete an adoption application at grrrsavesdogs.org and we will contact you to discuss adoption opportunities.
