Making sure all of the dogs in a household get along can take some work. When working on manners with older dogs, sometimes the more rambunctious pups needs some guidance. For this group, we got to practice settling for Bo and Sophie while big brother Gus helped supervise cleaning and lunch. Go puppies!

Lady and Carmella are hard at work and play! In between training, our staff make sure that all of our pups get plenty of play and enrichment time. Social groups are a great way for our younger pups to learn from ambassador pups with good social skills. Lady is helping Carmella learn important communication skills that she will benefit from for the rest of her life!

This time of year, everywhere we look are puppies. Our trainers are constantly answering questions about how to potty train or prevent poor puppy manners. So we came up with the perfect way to answer some of those questions.

Introducing Baby Jewel! This tiny rescue pup will be in our care as she grows and our trainers thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to do a series of posts on how to raise a puppy. Niko and 26 others wonderful pets are available for adoption!
This incredibly sweet dog is Niko and he has been without a home for 354 days! Niko was kept in an outdoor kennel as a puppy, with little chance to get out and play. So when you first meet him, he is shy for the first 15 minutes or so. After that, he warms up quickly and loves to snuggle in close for pets and love. Niko walks great on a leash and would make a great companion because of his loving disposition. That beautiful coat is only matched by his beautiful heart. He is currently living at a boarding facility because we haven't had a foster home open up. We would love for him to find an adoptive family, but at least, would love for someone to step up and foster him. Niko is just over 1 year old and 58lbs. Shy Winston. He’s needed a bit more time to find his footing, but he’s starting to come into his own. He just needs confidence and more exposure to good people. Give him a few weeks, and Winston will be a new dog. He’s a sweet, handsome boy with a lush, super shiny coat. We think he’s a lab/shepherd mix. And that’s exactly what he looks like. Winston is 8-months-old and tips the scales at 45 pounds. His adult weight guesstimate…65 pounds, give or take. He’s a bright dog with a sharp eye on the world around him. He doesn’t miss anything. Winston is going to be someone’s very loyal and devoted best friend.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, the little man of the month…Scout. Thirteen pounds of grit, guts, and go get ‘em. Oh, you know I’m stretching it. Actually, he’s a small dog with little guy personality, energy, and smarts. Scout is a mix, perhaps of chihuahua and terrier. He’s a slick-haired, smooth operator who can charm you into getting his way. Of course he can. Because he’s every kind of cute and comes complete with spots and a pair of wild and free ears. Since Scout is only a year old, he will still grow a bit more. But we’re talking shades of nothing. If you think he belongs curled up in your lap or sitting on top your head, don’t wait. This precious guy won’t be single long!

It is time to give a shout out to one of our most improved pups - Coco!

Coco started her life in a puppy mill and while we don't have all the details of her history, we do know that she was very underconfident and shut down. Her family wanted to help her come out of her shell and learn to be happier in her own skin. While Coco is not the flashiest pup we have ever trained, she is one of the cases that gives us the most joy to see how far she has come!

One of the best things to teach your dog is how to be neutral. This can be useful in a number of ways but one common example is your dog remaining calm when passing other dogs on a walk. It seems like a simple skill but is very important to how the walk goes.
