Moose enjoys the recall games. No leash pressure, lots of reinforcement. Get your dog to love to come!
Recall games in class this eve!! Awesome job Gunner!
Awesome recall work! Kai plus such a pleasure to watch. He has a guardian that has worked so hard to make sure he is a good boy!
Rosie was loving the recall exercise! She is such a sweet gal and has the best family that participates together.
Working with board and train dog, Bella, on her leash skills.
We did an @embarkvet with Miss Maple. What breeds do you thinkshr
The power of enrichment! This little gal was not quite sure about me, but quickly got to relaxation by using her nose and brain to investigate some of my enrichment toys. Shebis an older gal that I was called to help out with her change in potty habits and some general anxiety. This is where understanding dogs and behavior come into play. She wouldn't be helped by corrections or by obedience. Instead we did detective work to understand the cause of her changes and set up a plan to change the environment and how her humans responded to certain behaviors. Such a great family that just loves this little gal. I was so thankful to assist them.
Loose leash walking with Rosie pup today.
Ok has come far in his reactivity journey. He used to pull and bark at any dogs, esp those barking at him. This was the third fenced area with barking dogs that we walked by and he was like this at each house. No leash pops, or correction tools needed. Instead we started at a distance he could handle and he learned new coping behaviors (check in with me).

Little Poppy has not walked on leash before. She is learning here to be mindful of where her person is. Working on building trust and confidence and reinforcing where we want her to walk. Trying to flat out walk forward would likely result in her pulling ahead and disconnecting from her person. Baby steps set them both up for success.
Recall training! How fast does your pup come when called?
Need help achieving this? Send me a message and I can help!
One is adventurous, one is a diva. Can you tell who is who? 🤣
This is just the beginning. Helping Charlie be calmer with people walking in the house.
We don't need a leash or tools to make him stop barking we just need to show him what to do instead. Eventually he will learn to go settle on his place. But this was such a great job by his human and him. A wonderful start!
Somebody PLEASE go adopt this guy before I give my husband grounds for a divorce!!🤣🤣

Sooooo cute!!
Izzy is another dog with stranger danger. Her initial reaction was much more barking, but the camera made her more nervous. So these are two reaction after she had met me. Her mistrust of strangers extends from her reactions like this to a total lack of trust in touch, even from her guardian that she loves. She has severe aversion to her collar being touched, and even petting can cause tension for her. Slowly building trust, she started to connect with me and relax while we were walking.

Meet Paxton. He has had a traumatic experience with a person thst ruined his trust. He has a bit history and had been well managed for several years. But his guardian would really like to expand his circle of trusted humans.
There is no reason to "correct" this behavior. It is communication. He is uncomfortable with strangers in his space. If he were corrected, it adds more negative to a situation he already feels is negative. So instead I set out to pair positive things with my presence. I also found he loves to play catch to treat. So by playing catch, going slow, giving him space, and listening to him, I was able to start to build some comfort.
I don't need to try and handle a dog like this right away. It is more important I build trust in strangers, rather then swoop in and try and handle him to prove I can. That won't benefit the long term goals.
I look forward to working with him and his guardian to see how we can best help him feel safe.

Puppy self control. This pup's human didn't think she would ever back off of a treat. Look at her go!!
Teaching the foundation for a leave it.
The many "places" of Rosie.
Rosie has learned that mats or beds are great places to relax. Every time she makes the choice to settle she gets paid. So in any room she looks for a mat/ bed to settle. Such a good girl!
