CALLING ALL ANGELS! PLEASE SHARE TIGGER and help him find his forever home! He holds a special place in our hearts and we are dedicated to helping him find his happily-ever-after.

Watch his video and be prepared to shed a tear: https://youtu.be/NbT-pJcUy_U?si=9ffMdbuAEG-oQPmi

TIGGER has lived a life of international adventure. Not all of it was good. Some of it was downright terrifying and he barely escaped with his life. But now he's back and ready to find his forever home.

TIGGER and his friend MAXWELL were originally adopted in CT by a man who lived in Stratford. In 2020 they moved to Africa, but life there didn't turn out as they had hoped. The move was bad for TIGGER and MAX, and then tragically, their dad was killed in a motorcycle accident in August 2023, which left the boys stranded in Kenya where they had little to no hope of getting out alive.

They spent several months at the KSPCA Mombosa while their CT rescue, Zen Dog CT worked frantically to raise the $11,000 needed to bring them home to CT. (We knew TIGGER & MAX before they moved to Africa and helped our friends at Zen Dog bring them back, so we are dedicated to helping both dogs find their forever homes.)

TIGGER & MAX flew back to the US in March 2024 and have spent the past months decompressing from their ordeal and reconnecting with life in the US. While they live together in a foster home in Milford, CT, they are not looking to be adopted together.

TIGGER is 10 years old. He loves to go for leisurely walks and play with his stuffed donut, but other than that he's a couch potato and lap dog.

TIGGER would be fine with another friendly, laid back dog, but frankly, he'd be really happy as a single dog in a home where his human dotes on him. He is good with cats and currently lives with one very playful cat. No small children please. Kids over 12 would be best.

The adoption donation for TIGGER is $250.00. He is neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, has been dewormed and microchipped. He is also on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

To adopt TIGGER please submit an online application to Zen Dog CT at https://form.jotform.com/.../zen-dog-....

P/S: TIGGER & MAXWELL have the Maxwell and Tigger: Back in the USA where you can learn a lot more about them.

Look at our beautiful, golden eyed Essie. She’s a very sweet and vocal little girl who loves to snuggle up on your chest. Her previous home included 2 other cats who were bullying her and the family felt she’d be happier in another home. Essie is around 2 although she looks like a kitten because she’s very petite. She’s very sweet and is doing great in a home with children. Essie is spayed, fully vaccinated and negative for FIV/FeLv. Apply to adopt at boomersbestbuddies.com

Furry Friends Foster and Rescue Inc

Doobie - now named Buddy - needs to come back into the rescue by the end of the month. We posted previously and have not gotten ONE foster or adoption application for this good boy. We're mystified! Please apply without delay through our website: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/foster-application or https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application

In early 2019, Buddy came into the rescue. He wasn't with us long! He was a young, friendly, handsome boy and he was adopted by a terrific adopter. As always, we anticipated they would live together happily for all of Buddy's life. Unfortunately, life sometimes throws curve balls at the humans, and that is the case for Buddy. We received a call from his dad, who is broken-hearted and already grieving - but he's in a situation where he cannot keep Buddy. Of course we will welcome him back - we are always our dogs' safety net. We are sad beyond measure for both of them, but there really is no other choice that his dad can make - so please folks - NO negative comments!

Our trainer will go get reacquainted with Buddy so that we know the absolute best placement for him. He's now about 6 years old. He adores people, and gets on well with other dogs. We're told he loves his walks, loves playtime, and just generally loves being loved.
Buddy has received amazing care! We've received his medical records and his Dad hasn't missed a beat in his care. He's up to date with all of his vaccines and tests and is a healthy boy.

He will need to come back to us within the month, and we want to have a home ready and waiting for him asap. It doesn't make sense to drag out what is a really difficult situation.

Buddy would adore a fenced-in yard. He would love a family to take him for long walks. He would be happy to share his family with a canine brother or sister. He does jump when he's excited, so if there are children in the home, they'd need to be old enough to be steady on their feet - 7+ years old.

His dad had DNA testing done and here's what came back: 36% Siberian Husky, 28% Golden Retriever, 19% Treeing Walker Coonhound, and 9% Black Lab. So Buddy is basically a mixed breed dog.

We want to get this absolutely marvelous dog settled in a new home quickly!

UPDATE: GREAT NEWS! Doobie's dad has found a way for Doobie to stay with him! We're so happy and relieved - and so is he!

Look at this beautiful baby! Meet Harvest! 🌙

Harvest was born on 6/3/24 at a local shelter after her mom (and a bunch of other buns) were abandoned in town. She grew up there with her siblings and has now been spayed. Harvest transitioned to a loving foster, where we are working on her litterbox training and teaching her all about the indoor pet life. She’s very curious about her new surroundings and even though she’s shy, she is super sweet! We think she’d be a perfect candidate to bond with another rabbit. If you’re interested in meeting her, apply to boomersbestbuddies.com

11/11/2024

"Another barn owl (Tyto alba) died today from rodenticide.

Rodenticides (AKA rat/mouse poisons) do not address the root cause of rodent infestations and kill wildlife indiscriminately. Rodenticides are ineffective in the long term. Prevention is key in controlling rats and mice problems in your home."

1/ Rodent-proof your home

The first line of defence is to get rid of easy entry points. Mice can squeeze through cracks as small as a ten cent piece. Even the small gaps created by worn thresholds under doors will allow mice access to your home.

- Use metal weather stripping under doors, and weather strip windows.
- Patch cracks in foundations.
- Stuff steel wool around pipes before caulking or plastering.
- Cover dryer vents, attic vents, and roof overhangs with fine mesh metal screening.

2/ Make your home less appealing to rodents

-Remove cosy nesting sites in unused clutter around your house and garage.
- Cut tall grass and weeds back from your house.
- Secure garbage in containers with tight-fitting lids.
- Raise woodpiles about 30 centimetres off the ground. Place them away from your house.
- Never place fatty or oily food waste, eggs, or milk products in the composter.
- Use a layer of heavy metal mesh between the soil and the bottom of the composter.
- Eliminate water sources (like leaky taps, sweating pipes, and open drains).
- Keep your kitchen clean. Store dry food and dry pet food in metal or glass containers.

Choose chemical free means of rodent management. There is no safe use of any rodenticide (rat/ mouse poison).

If a non native rat or mouse can get to a rat bait then a native animal can too!

PLEASE SHARE MAXWELL and help him find his forever home! He holds a special place in our heart and we are dedicated to helping him find his happily-ever-after.

WATCH HIS VIDEO! https://youtu.be/1xUDYbvyEUw

MAXWELL has lived a life of international adventure. Most of it was as a pampered pooch, but these past few years have been ruff.

MAX (and his friend TIGGER) were originally adopted in CT by a man who lived in Stratford back when MAX was a baby. In 2020 they moved to Africa, but life there didn't turn out as they had hoped. The move was not good for MAX and TIGGER, and then tragically, when their dad was killed in a motorcycle accident in August 2023, the boys were left stranded in Kenya where they had little to no hope of getting out alive.

They spent several months at the KSPCA Mombosa while their rescue, Zen Dog CT worked frantically to raise the $11,000 needed to bring them home to CT. (We knew MAX & TIGGER before they moved to Africa and helped our friends at Zen Dog bring them back, so we are dedicated to helping them both find their forever homes.)

MAXWELL & TIGGER flew back to the US in March 2024 and have spent the past months decompressing from their ordeal and reconnecting with life in the US. While they live together in a foster home in Milford, CT, they are not looking to be adopted together.

MAXWELL may be 10 years old, but he is much younger at heart. HE LOVES TO PLAY AND BE SILLY! He is healthy aside from some arthritis, and is SO much fun to be with. He loves playing fetch and walking on the beach. Afterwards he enjoys nothing more than snuggling on the couch.

MAX would be fine with another friendly, playful dog, but he tends to chase the cat. He tends to have a bit of nervous energy, so no small children please.

The adoption donation for MAXWELL is $250.00. He is neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, has been dewormed and microchipped. He is also on flea/tick prevention and heartworm prevention.

To adopt MAXWELL please submit an online application to Zen Dog CT at https://form.jotform.com/ZenDogCT/zen-dog-ct-dog-adoption-application.

P/S: MAX & TIGGER have their own page (Maxwell and Tigger: Back in the USA) where you can learn a lot more about them.
