We entered our first show of the season at the Narrow Gauge Rabbit Show in Ignacio.
I wasn't expecting much - I've been so sick with pregnancy my rabbit hobby has really had to take a back step this year. So I was pleasantly surprised to win Best of Variety with my homegrown Dutch steel buck and Best Opposite of Variety with my black doe. There was a lot of competition with black so it was an exciting win for me!
Looking forward to making a lot of progress in the future. 🐰

Our last litter of 2021, five baby blues! 🐰
Our little 16 hole rabbitry hit some big goals this year:
*9 litters and 42 babies
*Our largest litter was nine kits with our smallest being just one baby.
*We've seen a lot of color too - black, blue, steel, gray and chocolate. We're only focused primarily in steel, blue and black right now though.

Excited for what 2022 holds - hopefully lots of babies, some shows and maybe a couple wins! 🤩

About our Rabbitry...

Hey there! My name is Lydia Blodgett and I am the owner of Blodgett Bunnies Rabbitry. I’ve been raising rabbits for years, but my all time favorite breed is the Dutch rabbit, which I have been raising since 2008. I love the different color variations that the Dutch provides and the challenge to achieve the standard of perfection in markings. I hope to add new breeds to my rabbitry at some point, but for now I am focusing on perfecting the Dutch. My goal as a breeder is to provide quality Dutch rabbits for breeding/show or 4-H purposes, but I also love to have my bunnies go to homes simply to be loved as pets.

I raise my rabbits on a small scale, which allows me the opportunity to invest time and care to each rabbit individually. I do not breed simply for production but for the love of the breed and for caring and raising the rabbit itself. All of my rabbits are cared for equally in a humane way, regardless of their quality or monetary value. Although I haven’t shown my rabbits extensively, I do hope to pursue showing them in the near future.

I live in the beautiful Rio Rancho, NM area with my wonderful, supportive husband Nicholas and my daughter Rachael. I also share my home with my dog Bella, two parakeets, a toad and all my bunnies of course! :) I hope you enjoy learning more about the care and raising of rabbits through this page - maybe even deciding that one of the little guys featured on my page will be your furever friend!
